WHO Cat & Dyson
WHAT Partners in Crime… or rather Partners to fight crime.
WHERE Downtown Breck - Main Street
WHEN July 13th - Investigating if someone is setting up the mob
RATING/STATUS Complete“Hey. Just because I don’t get to smell and hear everything as clearly doesn’t mean that I don’t pick up on things.” Cat told Dyson with a laughing tone to her voice. They’d just passed a shop where the girls working in it couldn’t take their eyes off of him and Cat had been teasing him endlessly about how it seemed some of the girls in town were a little more than interested in her new partner.
Cat really missed everyone from home but she was doing her best to make everything as good as possible given the situations and everything at hand. Besides Dyson was actually a really good partner, and she had to admit she did have some fun teasing him and hanging out with him. She just couldn’t help but to give him a hard time when she got the chance to.
“Maybe we should put your phone number on your back and see what happens.” Cat added as she full on laughed. That wasn’t something she would actually do to him but she had no problem whatsoever teasing him about it a little bit. She figured that was pretty logical after all.

Dyson was used to women staring at him. His heart might only belong to one person, but that didn’t mean he didn’t attract attention without even trying or that he didn’t enjoy that attention. Well, except for that one time when Kenzi had accidentally cursed him in defense of Bo. Then, the attention had been a lot less fun. This was a lot more harmless, though, so maybe he’d smiled and nodded and generally encouraged the attention he was getting from some of the locals as he and Cat patrolled in search of more information about this mob that had been gathering outside the lodge.
“Maybe we should,” he agreed in mock seriousness. He kept his tone even, as if his words were actually sincere, but there was an amused twinkle in his eye that suggested he probably didn’t actually want to follow through on that. The attention was fun, but most of the girls looking were much too young for him. Hell, most of the girls alive were technically too young for him if you considered his real age.
“I’ll plaster mine on my back if you put yours on your back,” he continued, still not totally serious. “Whoever gets the most calls in a week can buy the loser dinner.”
~~~
Laughing she started to shake her head. “Dyson you might have the rugged mountain look that girls really love up here, but we both know that I’ll probably get more calls. You sure you want to suggest that bet?” Cat said after he gave her the counter.
“It wouldn’t even be a fair fight.” She added trying to mock serious, but ended up with a smile and laughing. She really was having too much fun teasing him.
“I think we should go into Frizzante tonight and see who gets more drinks bought for them and that can be the test. We both know you want to buy a nice dinner for two anyways.” Cat teased. It was just too easy to tease him and when it came down to it, she actually really enjoyed having him as a partner, sometimes it felt like when she’d tease Tess and they’d do stupid things, just clearly very different too.
"Hey, win or lose, I still get to have dinner with a beautiful woman, so I think I'd win either way," he said smoothly. Cat was his partner and he wasn't sure actually meant to flirt with her, because getting involved with your partner was probably bad idea. That said, it didn't escape his attention that she was pretty and sometimes he couldn't help it.
"Besides," he continued, his own tone light and teasing, "I'm pretty confident that I'd get more calls, but if you'd rather make it drinks at Frizzante, I'm happy to beat you there instead."
He enjoyed the banter between them, too. It wasn't quite like it had been with Hale, but it was nice. Dyson had a tendency sometimes to be too much of a loaner and having Cat as a partner was good for him, too. Even when they were working, the light banter between them tended to keep him from brooding too much, as he'd been prone to doing lately.
~~~
“Aww, Dyson, all you had to do to have dinner is ask. And stopping and grabbing crappy food doesn’t count.” She added teasing him all the same. It was hard not to let the playful nature take over. It was fun teasing Dyson and while she didn’t take any of their flirting serious, or if it could even be called that, she just took it as playful fun and liked to enjoy the smiles it brought.
“Bullshit, we both know I’d get more calls.” Cat said shrugging. “And we both know I’ll win at getting more drinks.” She added with a wrinkle of her nose. “And no supernatural cheating either.” Cat added playfully.
She knew what he was, well sort of, and it didn’t bother her, actually some of his ways reminded of her Vincent which both upset her and made her feel more comfortable with him at the same time.
~~~
“Care to put your money where your mouth is, Chandler?” Dyson grinned. He was enjoying the banter between them. He didn’t really take the comments they passed back and forth seriously, either, but he liked Cat. She was tough and she was smart. She was a good partner and he had to admit it was nice to be away from fae politics and his promises to Trick. He missed Bo. He missed his other friends from home. At the same time, there was something freeing about being here away from all of that. Maybe a different kind of trouble seemed to find them here in Breck, but it was still different.
Kenzi seemed happy here, too, which was something Dyson liked. She deserved it after everything she’d been through. All in all, he thought this place would be good for the both of them. Having such a good partner in Cat was just icing on the cake and he enjoyed being able to tease her while they worked. Kenzi wasn’t the only one who was happier here.
“This weekend, Friday night. We’ll just see who gets more drinks.”
~~~
“Damn straight I will, and when I win on Friday, I’ll make sure not to rub it in too much. Wouldn’t want you walking around looking too upset.” She said as she held out her hand for them to shake on it. Cat was pleased with the way they worked together and really it was nice to have someone here that helped make her feel a little more balanced and to help deal with all the weird things that happened here.
“Maybe we can get one of the bartenders there to ref, make sure that neither of us cheats or the like.” She said. “No supernatural stuff either.” Cat added even though she was pretty positive that he’d play fair if she did, if she didn’t he probably wouldn’t and the other way around. “Not Alicia though, she’s great but she’ll probably turn it into something bigger.” From what Cat could tell Alicia turned everything into a game if she got the chance and selfishly Cat wanted this to be just between them.

"You've got yourself a deal," Dyson said, shaking his head at her confidence that she'd win. He laughed at the comment about supernatural stuff.
"Just what kind of supernatural powers do you think I have?" He teased her. "I don't think any of my wolf stuff is really going to give me any advantage in this kind of thing. The fact that I'm hot and charming, though? That's definitely what's going to win this for me."
It was all in good fun, as far as he was concerned and he found he was actually looking forward to it.
~~~
“Hey, I don’t know all about all of your wolfesk powers, you might have something up your sleeve just isn’t totally fair for just a regular human to compete against. “ Cat told him laughing with a smirk. She really wasn’t sure. “Hot and charming?” She added with a raised eyebrow. “So you think being hot and charming is all that it’s going to take to win?” Cat said shaking her head.
“You my friend have a lot to learn.” Cat played. “A lot to learn.” She said as she ducked into one of the coffee shops. “Come on, I need more coffee if I’m going to put up with you being hot and charming for the rest of the day.” She teased.
