This was the hardest part of her job. Delivering her column to the pick up point always made her quite antsy and anxious. To combat her anxiety, Lucy liked to pretend she was a character from one of her favorite books, and that she was just as brave and fearless as they were. It was rather childish, she supposed, but what did that matter? It brought a little bit of excitement into her rather dull and predictable life.
She was busy imagining what sort of daring escapade she was on this time, when she felt someone run into her. That jarred her from her make believe and instantly put her on edge, fearing whoever it was was going to know immediately what she was doing. She brought her hand to her chest to check that nothing was jarred. Feeling the small bundle still in place, Lucy breathed a sigh of relief, but snapped at the man after he apologized. "As well you should be. You need to watch where you're going!"
