Seeing her father shaking, and the worry for his health caused Delia to do something she rarely ever did. She relented.
"You think this is about my failure to get engaged?" her voice was a great deal softer and less incendiary. "I haven't thought of it since we talked about it last, I've put it out of my mind but since it is still bothering you, I can only apologize again. I really am sorry, you know I cannot stand to let you down. But this isn't about that." she took a breath to steady herself. "Papa, I'm scared for you. I want you happy more than anything, but there is a chance she could hurt you and I'm not willing to take that chance."
