Ella's hopes were smashed as the man introduced himself. Clearly he wasn't the elusive and hopefully alive Robert Lovering. But, she couldn't help but grin excitedly when he revealed he was in the Royal Navy. "You're a military man, Mr. Ferrars? How delightful! It must be terribly fascinating to travel at sea and protect us all. There is no doubt in my mind that you are very brave as well as very kind, which I think are the only two requirements necessary to becoming a ribbon rescuer."
Somehow, being caught up in their charming little conversation, Ella had gladly forgotten the sad state of her hair. She had also forgotten temporarily that she'd told the stable boy, who she'd forced to bring her to London under penalty of being fired, that she only wanted to take a short stroll through the park. Obviously he would wait for her, but it made her plight a bit more urgent in her mind.
