Charles and Abigail: Backstory
Subject: Two friends reunite at the Hurst's Christmas party.
Where: Bailston Abbey, about 4 years ago
Who: Charles Hurst
Warnings: none
Open to: Abigail Mountford-Miles
It was a complete joy to be home again, and Charles was enjoying socialising with not only his family, but also the few guests that had arrived early. His mother and father always put together smashing Christmas parties, and this one was no exception. It was the first time he had been home since starting his classes at Cambridge and it was nice to see that nothing had changed drastically while he was gone. Of course his letters from home said as much, but it was good to see it for himself. He'd enjoyed the day and a half with his family and now hoped to enjoy the festivities of the party just as much.
He excused himself from a conversation with his sister, who simply had to know everything about what it was like at university, and made his way to the entrance hall. Letters were well and good enough, but the guests he was truly waiting to see were the Mountford-Miles's. Specifically his dear friend Abigail. He'd found the perfect gift for her with the written assistance of his mother and sister. Part of him worried that she wouldn't like it as well as he thought she would. The other part of his mind pointed out that he was simply excited to see her again and tell her the things he wouldn't dare write about.
