Who: Nell Abbot

Nell quite liked the more quiet days. The variety show was all packed up for the afternoon and it was a few hours yet till the evening show would be getting underway and they’d have to arrange the props and set for that. He’d only be helping a little with that before he had to go change and arrange his hair and make-up. Nell rather liked the evening show, but then he enjoyed the audience then a little better. Well-paid, well-healed men with money to spend and an eye towards a young man of Nell’s complexion were certainly the clients he preferred.
Harry was starting to talk about putting on actual plays in the theatre again and taking them more up market. If they could gain the patrons then it might be a success, certainly performances of Shakespeare still packed them in and Nell had been promised all the leading female roles. It felt almost strange to consider sooner or later he’d be up here, treading the boards in the same rolls his mother had once preformed.
He was startled out of his thoughts by a call from Will, Harry’s assistant here at the theatre.
“Look lively, boys, there’s someone here to see you!”
Nell slipped off the stage, his best smile on his face. It was never to early in the day to be on the job.
