"I can," Even nodded. He tugged on his ear lobe, then dropped his hand to wring them both together. "I can listen," he said. Talking was a whole other thing, though he didn't usually have a problem talking to Jared, which wasn't to say he could talk to him without nerves and anxiety, but with Jared he could usually push through it.
It was harder when Jared flashed the cocky little smirk. The one that cut Evan right to the core. He swallowed hard, and knew he cold brush it off as his anxiety poking through. He wasn't as twitchy with Jared as he was with other people, but the anxiety could randomly creep up on him, and show out in one of his many many nervous tics.
He wrung his hands together, waiting for Jared to explain why he was actually there. If not to hang out, then what? Evan couldn't even begin to imagine. Jared sometimes had hair brained ideas, things he expected Evan to just go along with. Evan usually did because he didn't have the back bone to say no.
Jared could plan a bank robbery and Evan would likely go along with it and just do whatever Jared said. The fear of being arrested was more acceptable to him than telling Jared no. But thankfully, at least so far, Jared hadn't actually asked Evan to break the law.
