Jared watched the other, sensing that his anxiety was rising. He said nothing, staying where he was. Sometimes he pushed harder, but he'd gotten a lot better at recognizing when he could and when he needed to just chill. At this moment, it was time to chill. Evan would work through it on his own.
True to his personality, Evan did just that. He looked up again, looking down almost immediately. Jared raised a brow but said nothing. A few seconds more and Evan was looking at him again, his gaze meeting Jared's as he smiled. Fuck. It was his half smile. That ridiculous, endearing, adorable half smile. The very smile that had his insides floating. He swallowed hard and focused instead on the words Evan was speaking.
Rolling his eyes, he snorted. "Oh, yeah, right. Of course, silly me. How could I forget? You, a teenage boy, don't look at 'that stuff'," he teased, using his fingers to mock quotations. He then scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest. "And I'm the queen of England, didn't I tell you?"
He smirked, lessening the intensity on it so that Evan would know that he was joking. He decided that since they were talking and Evan hadn't said go away, he would take it as an invitation into his room. Striding in, he made his way over to the desk, pulling out the chair and plopping into it.
"So hey, not that I don't enjoy, you know, just hanging," he said breezily. He leaned back in the chair, running the pads of his fingers along his thighs, down the fabric of his board shorts. "I actually kinda had a reason for coming today. You good to listen and talk, dude?"
