Jared tried his very best not to look disappointed when Evan said he didn't know. He had known that this would be a possibility. He had known it would be a possibility that Evan would say no. So I don't know was definitely better, right? Well, excuse him for just allowing himself to believe that. Until he heard the word no come out of his friend's mouth, he wasn't going to worry.
He watched Evan but periodically looked away, glancing at his walls, or the book shelves, or other things around his room just so Evan wouldn't feel so cornered. Jared started to try to read a worn binding on one of the book covers across the room, making a game of it as he filled in the name in a way that made the book sound way more naughty than it was. It was during this slight distraction that Evan spoke up.
Jared's eyes snapped back to the other, and he frowned when Evan fell silent again. He didn't have to wait too long though. Those ridiculously expressive blue eyes met his and Jared actually had to inhale sharply to catch his breath.
"Gooood," he drawled out, happy to have an excuse for the sudden intake of air. He nodded. "Awesome dude. So. What are you doing now? Want to head out and start looking? Or we could just chill and get drunk off our asses. To celebrate, of course. Any chance your mom has anything just lying around?"
