Who: Timandra Starkey and Lung Shao Liang
What: Scientific inquiry
When: April 23rd, 1810
Where: Cádiz, dragon meadow
Warnings: Possible discussion of killing and war
So distracted was Liang by the low lights and shadows playing around the distant tavern where her captain was, she failed to notice the approach of her surgeon until Timandra was quite close--which was to say, far enough across the meadow for Liang to recognize her bearing and the bag she carried.
"Oh, hello," she called in greeting, her head twisting around in the direction of Timandra's approach. "Have you come with news? Is there to be a battle? What are they all talking of in there? Do you think we shall leave here soon, and that is why the longwing has come?" Her voice lowered to something slightly lower and subtler than the resounding crash of a waterfall. "Why is she here with us?"
They did not need any of her help, Liang was certain. Why, had not their formation brought the longwing and her crew in perfectly safely over the water, and were they not keeping the fortress safe and well-guarded? There could not be less call for another dragon, one whose wings took up more than her share of the meadow and who could not fit in any of the city squares. She could only be in the way.
