The arrival of a longwing in the makeshift covert at Cadiz was welcome, more than. Charlie had been managing the ragged flight of British and Spanish dragons out of the besieged city for months now, mostly by virtue of his age and experience. The Spanish and Portuguese he'd picked up over the course of the campaign hadn't hurt either; they left him in the best position to negotiate with the locals. But the leadership position left him in charge of staff meetings that were sometimes more explosive than battles with the French dragons. Reinforcements were welcome for both.
And if this was the dragon its markings and signals suggested, the reinforcements were doubly welcome. Glinda had a head on her shoulders and their working relationship had always been good. On top of that, she and her longwing were formidable in the air. He didn't expect her to break the siege, but if they drew more of old Boney's forces to keep the Spanish and British forces from breaking out, that was a strategic victory.
Charlie was balancing all these considerations as he strode across the square to greet the newcomer, coat trailing in his wake. He stripped off his gloves and thrust them in a pocket, careful not to drop them in the mud from the spring rains. Behind Charlie, Godofredo was hastening to keep up with him as he pushed his way through the press of locals surrounding the newest draconic arrival. Once Charlie was recognised, the crowd parted for him and he made his way into the centre to greet the captain.
