Challenge #2 Characters: Open to All Students NPCs: -- Timeline: Friday, December 2, 2011 - afternoon Location: Combat Simulation Room → Howard Stark's School of Tomorrow, Hartford, CT Description: The two schools meet up to compete in their second challenge. OOC 1: I'm waving the wand of RP magic where time doesn't matter and we're going to pretend that all of the teams can get through this in one night. And since it didn't work so well trying to cram everything into one weekend, to get this done we'll have a week and then points will be awarded, etc. etc. OOC 2: This is all very real, ie: the wind, the water, the heat, etc. OOC 3: All of the coins are hidden in plain sight, meaning, they're not under any boxes, in any treasure chests, etc etc. OOC 4: There is an observation deck, but the kids aren't be allowed into, so they have no idea whats going on, except those that have already finished the challenge.

Similar to Charles Xavier's much talked about Danger Room, Howard's Combat Simulation room boasted equally impressive hard-light holographic technology as its predecessor. Now, Howard, never one to miss the opportunity to brag absolutely insisted that his school host the second challenge, instead of splitting them up like the headmasters had originally talked about. So, much to Charles annoyance loaded up his kids that afternoon and made the trek all the way to Hartford. It was only fair after all, he supposed.
This time the challenge was a straight up simulation plucked directly out of pop culture - pirates. Who didn't love having a good old fashion swashbuckling adventure? He suspected no one would kick up that much of a fuss so long as the same tenets of teamwork applied. (Which they did.)
The simulation started out with the children locked in the brig of pirate schooner, anchored just off the coast of a small tropical island. There were one of three ways to escape this cage - the key dangling on the wall opposite where they were imprisoned; by popping the pin inside of the hinge, or simply by destroying the lock with whatever means necessary. Unlike the last challenge there were no rules against using their powers.
As always this was a race against the clock - escape the pirates and get off the boat in under sixty minutes to be awarded fifteen points. Just to make the challenge a bit more tricky, there were also five gold hidden around the ship, each worth three points, should they be found.
The first was easy, it was right there, with the key dangling from a chain. And then from there, they were exponentially more difficult and hidden amongst the pirates themselves who, were at the moment lounging around the deck. The second coin was dangling from the crows nest, the third by the wheel, the forth from the main boom and finally the fifth worn around the neck of the captain, who of course wasn't going to give it up without a fight, nor be keen on the fact his prisoners were escaping and ransacking his ship.
The danger-level was toned down to about a 2. Instead of guns and swords and knives they were outfitted with Nerf weaponry.
Their imperative was to sneak off with the medallions in hand and escape to the island via dingey. To the victors went the spoils and a whopping thirty points total.
