Steve's wrapped fists beat into the punching bag in the school's gym. It made a whump sound each time they hit and were the school equipment not made to withstand students who had super strength in some respect, it would've already met its end as a pile of sand at Steve's feet. A few grains of sand were already pounded out as it was, but Steve kept striking the punching bag regardless. A lot was happening around the same time and while the kids at the school really didn't see anything of note happening, Steve did. Someone like Howard Stark dying wasn't so far removed from the students' lives. Sweat dripped from the crease of his brow and the metal chain holding the punching bag up creaked loudly. He muscles moved with the precision of a trained soldier, and his mind focused on just the striking. Steve wasn't a man who condoned or promoted violence, but the exercise helped a lot. Let him think but also got his mind off things as well. It made him feel like he was doing something too. The chain creaked again and this time it swung in a manner that Steve knew the chain would break. As the punching back swung toward him again, he held the punch that would've sent it flying into a wall and instead steadied the punching bag with both hands. It was then that he noticed someone else was there and he turned to see an old friend standing there. One he hadn't seen for a while because there had been business that called him away. "Namor," he said as he turned to face him, a smile absent from his face, but his voice didn't lack anything that would say he wasn't happy to see the Avenging Son's return. Steve moved forward and offered a hand to Namor to shake, but the both of them knew that Steve would turn it into a sort of half hug that seemed pretty typical of men to share with their friends. |
