Thread: Rent! (Any) Characters: Cast, Crew, Attendees! NPCs: — Location: Stark School Timeline: Friday May 9, 2014 and Saturday, May 10, 2014 Description: It's the first weekend of the spring musical! Rating: PG-13, for suggestive themes~ of the play
Opening night arrived. There was a horrible dress rehearsal but someone said it was good luck for it to be bad, and so that seemed to settle the nerves of some people, including Lady Jac and Dr. MacTaggert. The play in its original form was a bit risque and the topics rather adult in various respects, but they found a special school version to perform. A number of expletives were removed as well as the raunchier and more suggestive jokes, but otherwise the spirit of the play remained. As the audience began filling in the seats of the Stark School auditorium, there was a buzz of energy backstage. Everyone seemed to be riding the same electric wave, and finally Lady Jac called the students together in the Green Room fifteen minutes before curtain up.
"I want you to know that I'm very proud of all the hard work you put into this play," she said in her accented voice, "I know you've put your heart and soul in it at times, and had to put up with singing the same phrases over and over again, but I promise you that it's worth it. Even if we had a bad dress rehearsal, we still have tonight to make up for it. Go out there and to the best you can. Forget the audience is there, be the character you're performing, and most importantly—"
She paused for dramatic effect and then smiled, "have fun." There was a small cheer and Lady Jac departed the Green Room. Curtain in 10 minutes!
Out in the auditorium, Lady Jac stepped out on stage. She wore an elegant dress of black and her hair pulled into a French roll. Taking the microphone from one of the AV people, she brought it up and gave the welcoming speech. She praised the students for all their hard work and ensure the crowd that they were in for a real treat! When she finished her speech, she walked off stage and the house lights dimmed before only the stage was lit and then, finally, the curtains opened!
