Ginny hadn't been summoned to the headmasters office since she'd run away a few months earlier, but she had an idea what this was about, even as she knocked on Mr. Stark's office door to announce her arrival. He could be calling her in to inquire about Anthony (and she sincerely hoped he wasn't, because she had absolutely nothing to report. Up until yesterday, they hadn't even been friends, and she certainly didn't want his father to know that she was a complete and utter failure in the one thing he'd charged her with). But it was far more likely that somehow - likely through her father - he had heard that the New York Theatre Ballet had offered her a position in their chorus. A very prestigious position that, had she intended to fast track her career as a professional dancer, would put her on the right path to stardom immediately.
Such a decision would certainly affect her position here at Stark's School, and while she had been hoping he wouldn't find out, if he had - he would likely want to know straight from the proverbial horses mouth what her intentions were so that he could plan accordingly. Ginny may not be from an exceedingly wealthy family, although they were well enough off to have raised a family of seven on a single income (and her grandparents and been high society); she wasn't a genius like Anthony, or Reed, or Hank, or Sue, or Victor; and she didn't have special powers like Carol or any of the others. But her decision in this matter, whether she accepted the position or not, Mr. Stark could spin to his own advantage and use her talent to make his school seem even more prestigious.
Especially if she stayed.
And Ginny had already thought of this, just in case. Further, she had thought of a way to use his advantage to her advantage - beyond just staying at the school.
Waiting for Mr. Stark to call for her to enter, Ginny breathed deeply, trying to keep calm.
