[OPEN] Chances - and Choices - of Survival Setting: Emergency Room [Day 4: 9 AM] Warning: None so far. Summary: The ER crew handled a case that challenged their decision making, and drew out inner characteristics of those involved.
Yuya Tegoshi sat glumly at the nurses' station, tinkering on random logbooks and patient folders. It was a so-so morning to start with. Given the presence of the outpatient department, there weren't much interesting cases coming about. Majority of those who came were flu cases which everyone was particularly afraid of nowadays (Damn that swine flu for giving misconceptions!), and some pediatric patients in convulsions. As always, he sat around again, thinking, wishing of another exciting thing to happen to his day.
It wasn't long when the office phone - the phone made for emergencies - rang. Seeing that he's the only one around (perhaps the receptionists had their break), he sighed in exasperation as he stood up and answered. The lines he heard next immediately shot his nerves up.
It was a fire accident. Another casualty, but not as massive as that five-car pileup. And there seemed to be another life at stake. No, make it two.
He looked for a doctor, someone he can refer to, nearby. Perhaps Dr. Nishikido is around, but he heard no bossy voice yelling orders at everyone, so he presumed he's on rounds or on leave. Besides, this seemed like a repeat of that tragedy about the IV fluid, so he dare not search him anymore. Man, is there any other available doctor besides him?
