Taking a sip of her own coffee, she felt herself slowly warm up once again, her nerves settling into a quiet bundle at the pit of her stomach. Even though it was him that she was comforting, sitting beside him was working wonders for her, too. He may have deflated, but still he oozed confidence. It was hard not to give in to the calm of his confidence, which easily settled the panic that had still been in her from a moment ago.
Glad to see a smile - even a small one - Maki smiled back. It must have been a shock for him, to have made a mistake. He sure doesn't seem like someone who would make mistakes, which made her different from him. She was the type that always makes mistakes. But, because of that, she would learn from the last. Besides, mistakes after mistakes gave her an invisible shield that stopped her from feeling the shock of a mistake. One can say that she has grown... immune to the frustration that would follow after a person does something wrong.
Seeing his uncertain glance, she somehow understood that he questioning himself - maybe even her - about whether it was okay to say what he wanted to. "You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to," Normally she would have encouraged the other to say everything they wanted to, in order to let it go, but with Tegoshi-san, she felt maybe it was a bad idea to say so.
