Slipping from the X-ray room, she sighed in relief. Turns out that little boy hadn't punctured his stomach after all, and had only swallowed some blood from a noseblood that caused him to vomit it back out with the rest of his lunch. He did, however, fracture a rib, so Maki had given orders to the nurse that had helped her out with the X-ray to send the little one to a room and be patched up. She couldn't believe how glad she was that the boy hadn't been suffering from a punctured stomach.
But, the pleasant relief did not last long, for the moment she left the room, there was obvious panic in the air. She was back in the center of the ER in time to see Nishikido-sensei yelling at someone. Even she had to wince at that, despite not being the subject of his wrath. Her sympathy immediately went to the person that he had been yelling at, who turned out to be... Tegoshi-san.
Maki didn't have long to consider the situation, as her name was yelled loud and clear, an order given to her to take his place. She didn't move until Tegoshi-san had walked pass her, his shoulder making contact with hers and causing her to stumble. He had completely deflated, and Maki had the strongest want to reach out and tell him that it was okay. He just... looked so much like a lost child.
Instead, she quickly stablised herself and made her way into the operation room, taking in the situation in seconds. It was a dying kid, but there was hope. The changed IV bag was lifting his stats. She took her place on the opposite side of Nishikido-sensei, nervously waiting for instructions.
