Although he told her to go, Maki lingered, still wondering if she had hurt his feelings. She didn't want to go out there if he wasn't in agreement with her. It wouldn't be a very nice feeling, knowing that someone was not pleased with her. It would easily disrupt her concentration, and she does not want that to be the case when she was working in the ER.
Apparently, lingering had been a good idea, for the other intern - Maki glanced at his name tag to see that his name was Aiba Masaki, so Aiba-san - had just put down the phone and was informing them of the accident. A flutter of nervousness filled her stomach, but at least now she had a bit of a warning before she went out there blindly and got herself into the pinch that she does not need to be in.
Maki looked sideways at Tegoshi-san, looking as determined as ever, and nodded. She was already feeling the beginnings of panic, but seeing how confident Tegoshi-san seemed made her feel just a little better.
