"I would say there is more to it than that. The Statute of Secrecy was an international effort. The entire Wizarding World managed to unite for this one endeavour, secrecy, and that is something truly remarkable. If the British are the ones to break it, then it will become a scar in our national history, our pride. We will become a shame to the rest of the world, for breaking what they made. If the Statute is to be broken, it will have to be done with the majority of wizarding nations in agreement, and that simply is not happening right now. Not that the Liberals understand that. They act as if Minister Flint controls the entire world."
These were the type of things Scorpius couldn't say around Grayson. Or even to his family. Lucius was the only one who enjoyed discussing politics with him, and now he was gone. Now he had two workaholic parents and a grandmother constantly asking if he had found a girl he liked yet. His only other option was his cousin Melissa, who had turned out to be better company than he had expected now that they had both gotten out of the annoying teenage phase.
"I am twenty-two, by the way," he added, remembering her question, "and I am facing marrying my cousin if I do not find a girl to commit myself to within the next year or so."
