Scorpius stood the moment he saw the young woman being escorted to his table. It was only good manners, after all. "Yes I have." He forced a smile and took her hand, lips lightly grazing her knuckles. "Scorpius Malfoy. It is a pleasure to meet you, Ms Rowe," he said out of formality. "Is that what you wish me to call you?" He wasn't one for first names, calling only those closest to him by their given name. Amelia's decision to keep her deceased husband's surname had him uncertain what to call her, though since she had introduced herself with the surname 'Rowe', that seemed like a safe bet.
It hadn't slipped past his notice how she kept her eyes on his. Bold. He preferred the bold ones, though they could be dangerous. He had the fortunate feeling that she would not be trying to act the personality she thought he'd like, as many of his past dates had done. If Amelia were that type, he knew it would have been her corning him for a date, not her aunt. To him she was more like the reluctant pawn.
There was an awkward break where he had to wait for the waiter to go about his business before he could make any attempt at proper conversation. His date was seated, water poured and menus brought before them all before they were left in peace to talk. He only briefly glanced at the menu, having been to the Silver Spoon enough times to know most of what was on it.
"Why don't you tell me about yourself?" he began. "Your aunt told me a bit about you, but I am reluctant to believe any of it until I hear it directly from you." Had he been more sure about her relationship with her aunt, whether it was good or bad, he may have been able to get away with a joke about pushy relatives to ease the tension. As it, he was better off playing it safe. He owed it to Narcissa not to ruin his chances in the first minute, as tempting as that was.
