Hermione was in the lounge, minding her own business. She had her wand-- well, it was Bellatrix’s wand, as she never got hers back after the war. It was a terrible thing, knowing that it had killed so many people and belonged to someone who thought she wasn’t a person due to her blood. Not to mention the fact that she didn’t “win” it from Bellatrix, it resisted her. Under the table she sat at, Hermione kept waving the wand.

“Expecto Patronum!” She hissed-whispered. She thought of when she got her parents back. She thought of Ron, she thought of Harry, she thought of her first day at Hogwarts. Happy memories. Good memories.

But no otter appeared. A wisp of ethereal smoke came out the end. “Maybe I should try something a little more easy,” she said aloud, to herself-- not realizing someone was walking by when she spoke. It would be more than easy to think she was talking to them.

Hermione wasn't the only one familiar with people thinking she wasn't a person due to her blood. Between her Jewish heritage and being a mutant, she'd seen more than her fair share of hatred and the lengths people could go to to oppress another.

Kitty saw the other woman muttering to herself, and approached, setting a drink down in front of her. "You know, its better to have a drink in your hand if you're gonna talk to yourself."

She noted the scars on Hermione's arm but said nothing about it.

	Hermione looked up at the woman and down at the drink. "Oh, but... I don't really drink much. Butterbeer maybe. What even is this?" Her curiosity got the better of her and she lifted the glass to look at it. The wand in her hand shifted so that it went under her leg so Kitty wouldn't see it. 	"Butterbeer sounds interesting." Kitty gestured at the drink, which was blue. "Romulan ale. I recommend you drink it slowly." 	Kitty grinned, glad she could at least make someone's day. It was probably best not to bring up the bad Earths, mostly, "My other best friend, who's not magic, is from a really shitty future. "I know a few people who are planners. I can plan on the fly, but I'm not like a strategist. But most of my teams tended to be more reactors than planners." Scott had been the best of them. And the worst in other ways at times. Kitty still remained conflicted about him, but at least he'd been the one that actually listened to her and believed in people making choices for themselves.
