Liss had been meaning to talk to Oliver Queen a little bit more, he was with Rose, and she felt as though she didn't really know him. It was still weird for her in some ways, but in others, she knew that things changed quickly and that they never really knew what was going to happen next. After all, they were living in space right now. "Do you mind if I sit?" She asked when on the off chance she caught sight of Oliver sitting at a table in the lounge. She didn't know if he had plans or was meeting anyone, but she figured this was as good a time as any to try talking to him a little bit more. Oliver had just finished his training for the day and decided to go up to the lounge and relax a bit. He’d gotten himself a fruit smoothie and was halfway watching the door to see if anyone he knew came in. When he saw Lissa, he smiled. Although he’d met Rose’s best friend before, he hadn’t had the chance to get to know her that well so he was happy to see her. “Not at all,” he said. “Have a seat. I was just sitting here trying to unwind.” With a juice in her hand she sat carefully down with a friendly smile. Lissa actively decided to put any of her thoughts about home away lately, and she was actually looking forward to learning more about Oliver. “It’s a good place to unwind.” Lissa offered. “I feel like I haven’t gotten the chance to talk to you since I arrived her, Rose thinks very highly of you.” He smiled. “The feeling is mutual, I assure you. She was one of the first people I got to know after I arrived and then things just took off from there. I really like spending time with her.” Oliver hadn’t been thinking about any kind of a relationship with anyone beyond friendship when he arrived but Rose had changed all that and he didn’t regret it in the least. “She’s really happy that you’re here. I’ve never seen her so excited.” Lissa took in everything he said, occasionally looking at his aura to get a clear read on it. “I’m glad to hear that.” And she was, Lissa was just as protective of Rose as Rose was of her. Laughing at his comment she nodded. “Rose and I, well we’re best friends and I can’t imagine what it’d be like somewhere like this without her.” “She told me that you’d known each other for pretty much all your life,” he remarked. Oliver knew that there were things about Rose that she hadn’t shared with him just as there were things about himself that he hadn’t shared with her. Maybe eventually they’d be able to do that but for now, he was content. Her friendship with LIssa though was one thing that Oliver knew for certain was important to her. "We met when we were about five and thought it was unfair that we had to spell out our full names." Lissa said smiling at the memory," "Although Rose has it much easier. Rosemary versus Valisa are two very different things." She teased. “Valisa? That doesn’t sound like an American name. Are your parents European?” It was a lovely name and it fit her but he could easily see why she would have chosen to go by the shorter version. “Imagine going through life with a name like Oliver Jonas Queen. Oliver was bad enough but the rest of it was way too much. I got into a few fights over my name when I was a kid.” "My family is of Russian and Romanian descent," she confirmed. "Hey, at least those are all names that are easy to spell and not insanely long, my full name is Valisia Sabina Rhea Dragomir, at five years old it's a lot to write down," she said. "And somehow I have a feeling you managed to win some of those fights, although I can see where kids would find ways to tease you for your name." Oliver laughed. “Yeah, I did win a few of those fights. I would have gotten in more trouble if we hadn’t had a housekeeper that kind of had a soft spot for me and she’d get me sorted out before one of my parents saw me.” He’d never thought about just how spoiled he was until his time on the island but it was true. Oliver had been the epitome of the spoiled rich kid. “I bet that was a lot to learn but it’s a beautiful name. It suits you.” If there was something that Lissa could understand, it was housekeepers, or in her cause guardians that were always somehow around and taking care of thing. "One of our Guardians used to take care of little things for my brother and I when we were at home, so I know what you mean." She said nodding her head slightly. "Thank you, I still prefer just Lissa." She added with a smile. “Well, Lissa suits you too,” he replied. Oliver was glad that Rose had someone like Lissa in her life. The two were very different people but that was the beauty of it. They complimented one another and he was looking forward to getting to know Lissa better. |
