Welcome to the Deck 5 Lounge

Each Saturday, join the Enterprise crew and your fellow travelers in the Deck Five Lounge to meet new arrivals, catch up with those you haven't seen in a few days, try a new drink, or just enjoy the spectacular view.

These weekly posts are IC third-person threading opportunities. Threads that extend to 10 total good-sized comments can be counted as a log for activity check. Almost disappointed at the change in scenery back to the lounge this week, Rose was nonetheless there with a great drink in her hand thanks to one Alicia Spinnet. Her gaze swept the room, watchful as always, but despite the inability to shut off her dhampir instincts - not that she would if she could - Rose was here for a good time tonight.

Even if she missed the outdoor vibe, Rose actually really liked the lounge. Not only was Alicia an awesome bartender, but the atmosphere was really cool, too. There was a reason this was one of the places on she ship where she most liked to spend her time.

Clary wasn't a big drinker, but she wasn't a prude, either, and what else was she going to do around here? Valentine and Jonathan were both dead and even if they hadn't been, she was stuck way in the future, in another world, where she didn't really have a purpose as a Shadowhunter. For as little time as she'd known about her true heritage, it felt strange to live as a mundane again. It felt even stranger that Magnus was her only source of familiarity.

After grabbing a drink from the bar, she found a seat near the windows where she had a good view into space. It was a sight she still wasn't used to, but she had to admit it was pretty cool. Even so, she couldn't help feeling a little restless.

When life got weird, have a few drinks. Those were almost words to live by in Mystic Falls and Elena thought it was appropriate here, too. It was a weird feeling, being so far behind most of the people she knew here. There was also the fact of the girl who looked like her, but wasn't Katherine or any of the other dopplegangers and then there was her aunt Jenna, who had died years ago for her, here and alive. That was the best kind of weird, but add it all together and it was a lot to wrap her head around. Hanging in a lounge run by Lucifer should have been weird, too, but it was a nice bar and the drinks were pretty much amazing. All in all, she'd found herself in worse situations.

Deciding she should get to know some people other than her friends from Mystic Falls and her aunt, Elena made her way to the lounge for the usual event night someone had told her about. It seemed like this was the place to be on a Saturday evening, so she ordered a drink at the bar and found a seat near the middle of the room while she looked around for someone interesting to talk to.

Being on a spaceship was brilliant, although James had been struggling as of late. Learning about his own death, and Lily's, losing Sirius, trying to figure out how to relate to a son who was even older than him, all of it was hard to adjust to and he'd been spending most of his time with Lily when he wasn't busy with flight training.

Being so antisocial wasn't like him, but it wasn't everyday a man learned about his only expiration date. Still, tonight he vowed to get out and mingle, maybe make a few new friends. As fantastic as his wife was, he knew he needed friends outside of her. They both needed more of a purpose around here if it was ever going to feel like home.

Indy had found that being on a research team helped me feel a little bit less out of place and more willing to involved in his surroundings. And, since he had a pleasant time with Peggy a couple of weeks ago, another trip to the deck seemed like a good way to pass his evening.

He grabbed two beers and looked around the room for someone to offer the second drink to. He'd expected to look for a lady friend for the evening, but ultimately his eye settled on one of the few men in the room. He approached him and put the beer down in front of him as he took his seat. "You look like you need a drink tonight."

Lissa found herself sitting in the lounge earlier in the day with a good book and a cup of tea, she really liked the atmosphere in here better than the mess, she was deep into reading some of the history of Starfleet when she realized she'd been there a few hours now and the welcome event was starting.

That didn't stop her from getting another tea and retaking her seat again as she flipped through the fake pages on her PADD of the history. Glancing up she noticed someone looking at her. "Hi," she greeted as she sat up a little straighter and put down her PADD.

Daisy hadn't been to the welcome events in a few weeks, she'd chosen to throw herself into her work in an effort to give herself something to focus on but with all the new people that had arrived recently she'd decided it was time to get back into the habit of going along.

It was still fairly early when she arrived in the lounge, she grabbed herself a drink from the bar and walked around a little before she spotted someone sitting alone. Just before she'd gone to ask if she could join her the woman had noticed her. "Hi, hope I'm not interrupting you," she said as she took a seat across from the other woman. "Were you reading anything interesting?"

Illya was worried about meeting up with Rogue for a few reasons. Firstly, he knew that Solo had met up with her in her room. Not only did he have no idea what he told her, he also didn't know if he'd slept with her. Solo had made it clear that if she was willing, he would go for it. This unsettled Illya. Not necessarily because Rogue looked like Gaby. It wasn't like Gaby was his girlfriend. It wasn't like he even wanted to sleep with Gaby. Rogue was his friend though, and Illya did not like the idea of Solo sleeping with her, especially because it was just sex to him with no feelings involved. Illya didn't want to see Rogue hurt.

He was also worried because he had brought his notebook to show her a few of his fashion drawings. Obviously, he didn't want her to think that he was a terrible artist. He also didn't want her to think that he wasn't a man. Illya knew that his hobby wasn't particularly masculine, especially compared to the fact that his other one was destroying people at sambo. Fortunately the latter hobby usually helped if he was ever made fun of for the former one.

He had a glass of vodka for each of them, though Rogue could order whatever she wanted if she preferred something different. Illya waited nervously, tapping his pencil on his notepad and looking around the lounge.

In all honesty, Rogue hadn't really thought Napoleon would actually show up, so she'd been amused when he had and that he'd made his desire to get into her pants pretty clear. She'd turned him down, a tad bit flattered, but she really hadn't had any desire to sleep with him, or, well, anyone else who wasn't Remy. Flirting was in her wheelhouse for sure, but she didn't have any real intentions of actually following through. And even if she did, there wasn't really anyone around that she was attracted to who might be able to handle her powers.

And so she was heading for the lounge. Despite B'elanna having fixed her suit, she didn't wear it too often on the Enterprise, because people there were pretty good at respecting personal boundaries. Instead, she dressed the same way she always had before when not in a uniform of some kind - tight pants, a short sleeved top and if she wasn't wearing a jacket, gloves that went up to her elbows. As she walked into the bar, she glanced around idly, pushing back her hair, the white streak in the front mixing in with the darker strands.

When she spotted Illya, Rogue smiled and headed over to drop lightly into the seat across from him, gloved hands lightly tapping the top of the table. "Hey sugar," she drawled, eyes bright. Nodding to the glass closest to her, she tilted her head. "That for me?"

It was hard not to feel a sort of attraction for this woman, even if he knew that it was mostly because she looked like Gaby. Not that he would ever admit that out loud. He could barely even admit it to himself. Illya was fine with the two of them remaining friends. He would never try to suggest otherwise.

"Yes," he said with a slight smile, which was the most that people usually got out of him, "if you would like it." If not, he would drink it at some point. This was probably a two drink night.

"Thanks," she said. "Ah certainly do." Picking up the glass, she took a sip, then idly leaned back in her chair to look around at all the other people for a moment, then back to him. Eyes as green as her gloves fell to the notebook under his hands, and Rogue sat up curiously, head tilted.

"That your sketchbook?" She hadn't been sure he'd actually bring it and was glad he did. She was a fan of fashion and was interested in seeing what he'd designed exactly, just out of curiosity. Plus, since he was an architect, Marian hoped for one or two drawings of buildings he'd designed. "Are you gonna keep hidin' it, or can Ah see it?"

Illya's eyes fell on her gloves and he wondered why exactly she was wearing them. There didn't seem to be any purpose to wearing them inside.

He somewhat reluctantly slid his notebook across the table to her. "They are just sketches," he reminded her. Illya wasn't sure if they were actually any good anyway. His most recent project was a redesign of the female Starfleet uniform. Anyone familiar with fashion would notice some early 1960s mod features about it.

Pleased that he'd brought it, Rogue set her glass down and leaned forward eagerly to pull the notebook the rest of the way to her. "Ah like sketches. They're just - full of potential, ya know?" Her Southern accent was heavy as she glanced up at him, then opened up the notebook itself. Her eyes showed delight as she began to carefully flip the pages, studying each drawing carefully before she moved on to the next.

After about two minutes and a dozen pages, she broke into a bright smile and looked back over at Illya. "These are pretty good, sug," she told him. "Ah'm impressed. You've got some talent here."

	"Thank you," he said, a slight smile on his face. It was a rare thing that Illya smiled at all, so Rogue should take that as a bonus. "I have done drawings, but not much creating." Again, that was somewhat limited by his job and by the sense that he did not want to seem feminine. Drawing was one thing. Actually sewing a garment would be another. 	She finished flipping through the pages, then pushed the notebook back to him as she picked up her drink. "How come? You should go ahead and give it a try. 	Illya shrugged. "I simply have not yet. I suppose you are right though. There is a lot of time on this ship." He knew how to sew and how to use a sewing machine, though he was sure any sewing machine in this time would be beyond his comprehension. 	Jessica grabs a drink from the bar and starts to go find a seat. She stumbles backwards and lands back on the stool. Okay. She spins the stool around and stays at the bar, elbows up on the table. She decides this is probably the best place for her anyway, they can keep 'em coming. (Reply to this)
