"If you like," he said. "Gods are generally borne out of emotions of lesser races where I come from and my people were... especially emotional. Which is why I don't really categorise them in the same way."

Diana sipped her drink, nodding. She didn't really consider humans a lesser race, but she'd spent too much time among them. "The gods came first, in mine. Though there is some debate as to the true nature of the gods, and a variety of different kind of gods. In my own studies I've come to believe that many of the ancient pantheons on my Earth had gods that actually existed. Whether or not they're gods, or powerful aliens is another matter."

She set her drink down. "I am the last of my pantheon, and there are no siblings left to ask how much is myth, and how much is truth." Diana hadn't even been able to go back home to ask her mother.

"My world predates Earth," he replied. "So they might have been 'born' the same way, just not from humanity." He paused. "Unfortunate. Though I suppose you can feel better about the fact that on my world, myths have a tendency to outlive their welcome, returning millennia later."

Whether that meant she'd have a resurgence to look forward to or simply spared battling them while they attempted to destroy anything in their way, he'd hoped it was partly of comfort. It wasn't his forté.

"I shudder to think what emotions could manifest a god of war," Diana admitted. Though she'd learned the hard way that people didn't need a god of war to fight.

He didn't reply, merely taking a drink from his glass with an expression that he knows precisely what's required. He just didn't feel like talking about it.

Diana rolled her shoulder. She didn't blame him. Two world wars, genocides and a century of watching the world suffer had taught her much of what people were capable of. But still.

She finished her drink, and slipped off of her stool. "For every god of war, there is a god of love. One cannot exist without the other. My people are warriors, but we have a saying. Don't kill if you can wound, don't wound if you can subdue, don't subdue if you can pacify, and don't raise your hand at all until you've first extended it."

"An admirable sentiment," he replied. "And it does, unlike a lot of sayings, have a ring of reality to it."

"If only others would believe the same. It was a pleasure talking to you," She told him, and she wasn't lying. Diana smiled at him, before turning and walking away.
