"Widowmaker."

She said it as though it wasn't an entirely ridiculous name to give someone, but it was who she was. The person she'd been before was dead, murdered at the same time she'd eliminated her husband, and then methodically buried beneath years of brainwashing and conditioning. So she was Widowmaker, and that other person did not exist.

Mostly.

"So you're Russian. Is your drink not cliche?"

"That is your real name?" He questioned with one eyebrow slightly raised. Honestly, would it be the strangest thing he had heard since he'd arrived on this ship? No. It wasn't even the strangest thing about the woman sitting next to him.

Illya shrugged at her mention of the vodka. "I like vodka. It is traditional drink of my country. Of course many of us drink it."

"Yes." She raised her own eyebrow, as if challenging him to dispute that. As as she was concerned, that was the truth. "I suppose if I drink wine, you can drink Vodka."

What was there to challenge? If she said that was her name, so be it. It didn't bother her terribly either way. His name had been a lot of things in his time with the KGB.

"What part of France are you from? I have only been to Paris."

It was for work, but he did find the city to be beautiful. Illya also enjoyed seeing all the fashion there.

"Annecy. About thirty kilometers south of Geneva." she replied. "My family had an old lake house."

It had been beautiful. She could almost remember what it had felt like.

"I saw very little of French countryside, but I found it to be quite beautiful. Moscow, it is not like that now. Many grey buildings. I understand why. It is efficient."

The Soviets were about efficiency, not so much about art and beauty. Illya had a soft spot for that, though he tended to hide it. It would not only be seen as unmasculine, but unRussian as well.

"There is a bit of the old way still sometimes if you go outside of cities, but it is harder to find."

"Moscow wasn't that drab in my time, but I did not like it," Widowmaker agreed. She'd passed through there on the way to the Volskaya factory in St. Petersburg to the north. That city had been more aesthetically pleasing.

"What year was that?" Illya asked. It must have been before his, although he could not figure out how to reconcile that with the fact that she was blue. Perhaps it was far in the future. He had already learned that in this time communism no longer existed. It was possible that Russia had gone back to the old ways.

"About eight months ago. 2075." Widowmaker's drink hadn't magically filled but she supposed all good things should be in moderation. Even when she wanted to be self-destructive.

Illya gave a short nod. That explained it then. "I am from over 100 years before that. 1963." There seemed to be a few other people from close to his time, but most of them seemed to be from around or after the year 2000. Just thinking about that year was mind-blowing for him.

"Ah. That explains quite a bit." The Soviet Union would collapse a mere 26 years after his time. So much could happen so quickly. The world of the 2070s looked nothing like the world of the 2040s, which looked nothing like the year 2000. "I would think the different is as stark as 1863 to 1963."

"It makes sense," he agreed. "The world progresses. This place sometimes though seems so unbelievable."

That was why he still wasn't entirely convinced this wasn't some sort of dream or drug-induced hallucination. Or maybe this was the afterlife. That would make just about as much sense as anything else.

"Best case scenario," Widowmaker replied. "We have lost our minds, and this is our mental break down."

She wasn't serious, knowing what her mental breakdowns actually looked like. But she was at least attempting humor.

Honestly, Illya had not ruled out the fact that he was having a nervous breakdown. Mostly he wavered between thinking this was some drug-induced exercise or that he was dead, but mental breakdown was not out of the realm of possibility.

"Could be, though I feel mostly sane." He'd like to think he'd be able to tell if he lost his mind.

"That may not be a good sign," She said. "I think I'll leave you to your sanity, or lack thereof."

She was being reminded of too many uncomfortable things.
