It wasn't that surprising to her that Castle had beaten her in the race. While she was somewhat of a nerd, Kate's love of sci-fi and things that most people might consider dorky extended largely to comic books, tv shows and movies. Unlike her husband, she wasn't much into video games and there was definitely an advantage in driving the pods for someone that had spent time pressing buttons and flicking levers simultaneously.

Was she annoyed she had lost? A little bit, but she could let that part go. It was really just Castle's bragging and crowing that he had beaten her that was irksome but she was trying to ignore that part of herself because Rick wasn't doing it to irritate her. He was just excited and it was always fun to watch how over the top he was with it all.

"Yes, you've told me a dozen times," she replied, hiding the way her lips had quirked up in amusement by taking her first drink of whatever Castle had ordered for them.

One swallow was all she needed because it tasted terrible, and Kate quickly placed her glass back onto the table and pushed it away with a couple of fingers.
