WHO: Daisy Johnson & Derek Hale.
WHEN: 226408.02.
WHERE: Holodeck.
SUMMARY: Daisy introduces Derek to the wonders of holo-technology.
WARNINGS: TBA.
STATUS: Closed/Ongoing.

As soon as Daisy had sent the directions to his PADD she'd headed down towards the holodeck herself. Not knowing exactly where he was when she'd sent the information she hadn't wanted to leave him waiting or anything, she didn't want to appear rude to the new arrival after having extended an invitation to him after all. That wouldn't have made a good impression on him, not that she was worried about things like that. She just knew how difficult it could be to find yourself on the Enterprise and if she could help even one person settle in a little then she felt like she was doing some good.

She made it down there before him, either he was further away or he was having a little trouble with the directions she'd given him. Whichever it was it gave her enough time to pick out the program she wanted to use and activate it in preparation for his arrival. The particular setting she'd gone for was one that was close to her own heart, one she hadn't actually shared with anyone else yet but something he had said made her think he'd appreciate the place. 來世 or Afterlife as she'd known it was somewhere she could never have returned to back home but here at least she could walk around it again and think about what could have been in a different life. It had been fairly easy for her to build the actual program, coding it had taken time but the hard work had paid off and now she had a tiny piece of her life here among the stars.

It wasn't long before she sensed someone approaching, her power helping her pick up on their approach even though it was almost entirely silent. She was fairly surprised to see him round the corner, for a large man he moved quietly but then it wouldn't be the first time she'd known someone like that. Pushing those thoughts away before they could color her mood she offered him a small smile. "Hey," Daisy said by way of greeting, "Welcome to the future, I'm Daisy, I realized I didn't say before so thought I better introduce myself before things got awkward."

Navigating without being able to properly differentiate smells was complex. At first the metallic smell around the ship was a bother, but it had gradually settled to just a mild annoyance. He could scent the number of people around the ship, knew that it wasn't just a fabrication, there wasn't a threat from Nogitsune's or revenge plots there. But he did eventually find the place that was recommended following a lot of wandering while triple checking the PADD.

Despite the uncertain situation, it was relatively easy for Derek to greet Daisy with a small smile, a little easier to coax out of him these days, "Well, it's nice to know there is a future, so that's a plus." For a while it was a large question mark as to whether or not he'd had one. "I'm Derek." Introductions seemed to slip by when in new and unusual places without much explanation.

"So, holodeck?" He pointed towards what must be the holodeck, unless he was about to face torture cavern two point oh. But then, he wasn't getting the Kate vibe from Daisy -then again, he didn't get that from Jennifer either. "Yet more of the future fun?"

Daisy could remember what it was like when she'd first found herself on the Enterprise, she'd gotten lost more times than she cared to remember until she'd learned her way around. Occasionally she still took a wrong turn sometimes but usually it was when she was distracted by something like a PADD in her hand or a conversation with someone. She knew this place could be confusing and sometimes a little daunting for people so she wouldn't judge anyone if they got lost and couldn't find their way around here.

Daisy looked Derek over as he introduced himself, it was something she did the first time she met anyone, it was subtle and most people didn't notice it but she wanted to check for threats. "Well there's at least a future for some people," she said, her own future was a little uncertain most of the time. "Nice to meet you." She normally introduced herself on the network but it had gotten lost in all the talk of torture caverns.

"Holodeck," she confirmed with an incline of her head towards the doors, "I've already got a simulation going, something I thought might give you the open space and at least the sense of fresh air you prefer," she told him as she walked towards the door trusting him to follow behind her. The doors hissed open and she stepped through, turning around to face him she gestured to the surrounding area. "Welcome to Lai Shi."

Futures were fickle, Derek knew that, but it wasn't exactly the route of conversation to take on a first meeting. Everything was decidedly different and new, to the point where Derek was surprised his own instincts weren't utterly rebelling like crazy. Since he'd reclaimed an anchor and achieved the full-shift, he was far more settled.

He just returned a small smile at the greeting of acquaintance, still firmly glad that he wasn't thrown into another chaos mess.

"Lai Shi?" He hadn't ever heard of it, but the sight was enough to halt many questions about it. Considering they'd gone from on the ship to enter here, where his senses were being told one thing but finding another. "Okay... Not weird at all."

Daisy hadn't meant to comment on further as she had, it had slipped out before she'd even thought about it. It wasn't exactly a topic to get into when meeting someone new so she hoped he'd ignore her comment and move on. She didn't really want to discuss such things, not when she was still reeling a little from the recent departures from the ship.

When he returned her smile she felt her own grow a little, she hadn't really gone out of her way to make friends here but maybe this was the way forward.

"The translation is Afterlife, I thought Lai Shi sounded more inviting," she said with a small laugh. Anytime Daisy came here she felt more at easy, despite the memories that now lingered around the place that had given her so much. "Oh it's totally weird, I can't even imagine what it must be like for people who come from earlier time periods where things like VR don't exist. I mean at last I've had experience with this sort of stuff but even I find it weird."

The notion that his eyes were seeing something but his senses weren't picking up o the same thing was making it a little more complex to fully process. It eventually just came to the point of Derek pushing his senses from looking to make sense of it and just focusing on sight rather than smell. No point in letting his wolf get distressed by it at all.

"Lai Shi definitely sounds more inviting," Afterlife had a little bit of an awkward connotation to it. "We have a level of virtual reality, not to this extent, just hand held devices, some computer programs, that stuff." Nothing as expansive as creating a full world to walk into, without a headset or some kind of obvious ploy. The whole room seemingly changed around them to the point where they both saw the same thing and each other in it.

Definitely more advanced.

"It's just a little weird because... well my senses can tell it's not real." He figured he was on a spaceship, with alien races, hurtling through space. So it wasn't like he had to keep the wolf thing a complete secret.

Even though she'd been on the ship a while now she still found it strange to see things like this. Recently it had been something she'd avoided but she'd decided to see if she could step back onto the holodeck without nearly having a panic attack. So far she was doing okay but that could have been because she had something else to focus on.

"Yeah, much less doom and gloom which if you knew what happened to the real place would probably be a little ironic." Not that she was about to go into it all. "It was the same where I'm from until fairly recently and it still is for the general public." She didn't think the world was quite ready for such immersive VR, it was dangerous territory, especially if it ended up being anything like the framework she'd found herself in but thankfully it was very unlikely that would ever become a reality back home.

This, well this was probably on par with the framework and much more user friendly.

"Your senses? You're more than just human?" she asked, glancing at him and suddenly wondering what he was if not human because he looked human but she knew that didn't mean anything here.
