Beverly | Dr. Beverly Crusher ([info]beverlycrusher) wrote in [info]toboldlyrpg,
"Oh, I will, as soon as we see what the Holodeck has in store for us," Beverly promised. She rubbed her hands together, and with a few taps on the interface next to the closed doors she pulled up a random dance program. "I've set it to 'surprise me' this time. If it works, we can try that again, or just see what's in store."

The doors to the holodeck swished open, and the sounds of a party drifted out. Laughter and music mingled. Beverly stepped inside, and looked around. The holodeck technology wasn't as advanced as what she was used to, naturally, but it was still very believable. A smiling man in a green military uniform opened a set of double doors, revealing the party inside. Dancers crowded the dancefloor, moving to the tune of an upbeat song.

Beverly smiled. "Will would enjoy this."

The crowd parted, revealing an open table. Beverly gestured towards it. "Over there." Once seated, she continued, "Just before Keiko and Miles O'Brien were married, Data asked me if I would teach him how to dance. So I said, sure, meet me in, oh... holodeck three, or something. He did, and since he hadn't specified what sort of dancing he wanted to learn, I assumed he meant tap. So I taught him to tap dance, and since he's an android, I didn't have to do much beyond show him what I was doing. Then he mentioned that he was planning to dance at the wedding, and I had to explain to hiim that tap dancing isn't the sort of dancing one does at weddings. Then I tried to teach him to waltz, and he couldn't do it. It turns out that he needed to watch my feet in order to learn how to dance correctly."
