Not really looking where she was going, she’d impacted with something hard as a bulkhead.
Who: Diana and Anna
What: Food
When: Not long after Diana arrived
Where: Mess Hall
Status: complete
Rating: low

Anna couldn’t decide what amazing thing she wanted to study first. Here in the future there were so many more choices available for her that it was often dizzying to consider them all. To think - no more being trapped by what a girl or a princess was ‘supposed’ to do? And Elsa was okay with almost anything, as long as Anna stayed out of trouble.

She’d spent the entire morning with her nose in her PADD, skipping down the hallways between the rec rooms, the holodeck, and the mess hall. It was on her way to lunch that the incident happened.

At first the young girl thought she’d run straight into the wall. Not really looking where she was going, she’d impacted with something hard as a bulkhead. Anna blinked her eyes at the PADD in front of her, and rubbed at her nose. “Oof. Did someone put a WALL here!? THAT IS NOT OKAY!”

“I am so sorry.” Anna hadn’t even managed to budge Diana. She turned around, reaching down to steady the redhead. She had about a foot on her, give or take a few inches. “Are you all right? I was trying to decide if I wanted to go in. I shouldn’t have been blocking the hallway.”

It wasn't a wall, it was a very tall, very muscular woman. One who was as beautiful and gracious as Elsa, though definitely a little more confident. Anna blinked up at Diana, looking a little sheepish. "Oh no, I'M sorry, I just-- You are really hard, by the way, like- in a good way, I think?"

Anna felt more flustered than usual, even. It was hard not to be intimidated in the presence of someone like this. She smoothed her dress and tucked a stray hair back into place, "I should have been watching where I was going, I mean. This is my mistake."

This woman was so earnest that Diana had to laugh a little. She dropped her hands from Anna's shoulders, and gave her a reassuring smile and a little wink. "No harm done. I'm more worried you might have sprained something running into me."

"Well it certainly seems likely, I mean-" Anna rambled, then coughed and darted her eyes off to the side. "Uhm, You're just very impressive. I think, almost like a statue carved out of marble! But yes, I think I'm fine."

She wiggled her fingers and toes, and bounced on her heels, checking her various limbs. Her PADD had also survived the impact, which Anna decided was impressive. "Are you... uhm. An alien by any chance? It's just most of the humans I've met aboard here are a little softer."

Diana wasn't easily flattered but she did like the comparison to a marble statue. It wasn't the first time she'd heard it, but it was the first time it really seemed genuine and so she was a little touched.

"I'm no alien. But I'm not quite human either. My name is Diana." She'd been pretty open about her identity on the Enterprise. There were too many people from strange and unique locales and it had honestly been incredibly freeing after a century of silence to be able to be herself.

Though she'd never be that naive woman from Themyscira ever again, and the thought made her eyes sad.

"Oh! Are you..." Anna squinted, trying to find some of the other words people had used for themselves. "A mutant? Or maybe some kind of God, like Mr. Loki is?" She still liked referring to Loki with some kind of title, even though he'd told her a few times not to bother. In her book, he'd always be some kind of God, that deserved respect.

Then she realised that Diana looked sad, and she rocked on her heels once before motioning towards the Mess Hall, "Do you know what always cheers me up? Chocolate. We should get some? Did you know there's such a thing as Chocolate ice cream?"

Anna was so precious. Diana was quite taken with her, she reminded her of some people. At least it was hard to feel sad around her. “Not a mutant. My mother is an immortal Amazon, and my father was a god.”

If there was one thing that could get Diana’s attention, it was ice cream. “Chocolate ice cream is amazing, but have you ever tried mint chocolate chip?”

Anna's face lit up like it was Christmas morning. "Mint AND Chocolate?! Together? In ice cream!?" Oh goodness but she had to try that, and she had to try that right now. Her hands clasped together in front of her and then clapped a few times.

"Are you- do you want to come in? With me? And eat some? Right now?"

“There is no world in which I would turn down ice cream,” Diana assured her. She put a strong arm around Anna to guide her into the mess hall. She was still unsure how food ordering worked here. Was it some kind of line like at a restaurant or shop? Or did they just order at machines. “How do we order ice cream, here?”

It was a very strong arm, and Anna wondered if you had to be part god and part immortal to have arms like that. Thankfully, she actually managed not to blurt that question out, and instead pointed towards the bank of replicators on the wall. "They have real cooks and real machines for coffee and things over there, but when you want to order something right now, you use those things! You just ask them politely for what you want, and the food shows up inside the box!"

She looked up at Diana and grinned, "It's magic."

“I am sure there’s an explanation for how it works, but let's see if it can get mint chocolate chip right.” Diana leaned forward, giving the machine a dubious look before ordering. “Two bowls of mint chocolate chip ice cream, please.”

The machine whirled, and a musical chiming sound went off as the ice cream was replicated into being. Diana was impressed. “So many people go hungry, this would solve so many problems.”

"OOoo, it looks delicious!" Anna picked up her bowl of ice cream, dipping a finger into the whipped cream on top and licking it. Then she blinked up at Diana. There were few unfortunate people in Arendelle, at least none that she was aware of. And when they'd stopped off on Earth, many of the problems people often spoke about didn't exist.

"I think they did? Uhm, when we were on Earth last. I was... actually I was robbed, but there didn't seem to be a reason for it! These magic boxes make it so everyone can eat and have all of the things they need. Is it not like that where you come from?"

Diana shook her head. “There are many that are hungry all the time. There’s plenty of food, it just never reaches then. One person cannot always save the world.”

She put her arm around Anna to guide her to a table. “That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.”

"We should always try!" Anna agreed, carrying her ice cream along after Diana. She had it cradled carefully in her hands so as not to drop it. "If no one tries then the world will never change at all!"

"Of course sometimes," She added as she took a seat, "We need to take a break from saving the world to eat delicious ice cream. Like now!"
