WHO: Rose Hathaway & Lissa Dragomir
WHAT: Lissa's Arrival
WHEN: backdated to the end of shore leave
WHERE: Hawaii, I think!
WARNINGS: None
STATUS: Complete

Rose didn’t need the alert on her PADD to tell her Lissa was here. She felt her through the bond the instant she arrived, feeling her confusion and curiosity as the situation was explained to her. Using the bond, she figured out where her best friend was and made her way there. Rose’s excitement mounted more and more the closer she got to Lissa. It had been three weeks since she’d been brought here to the future and even longer than that since she’d actually seen Lissa. Saying she was happy to see her would be a major understatement.

As soon as she was close enough, Rose was wrapping her arms around her best friend in a bone crushing hug. “Liss, you’re here!” she cried happily. Of everything she’d missed from home these last several weeks, Rose was at the top of the list.

There were a lot of things that Lissa was expecting. This wasn't one of them. She was polite, asked the questions she needed to. One of the first was if Rose was here and she got enough information to understand the basics. It still didn't feel like enough, but Lissa got the impression patience would serve her best in this situation.

Before she could even do anything else arms were wrapped around her, tightly and Lissa broke out into a controlled grin. It would have been wider, but habit of keeping her fangs hidden was important. "Rose!" She breathed out. "I need to breathe still!" She teased knowing her eminent feeling of relief, and the large number of questions she had were flooding her best friend.

Rose had the grace to look slightly embarrassed as she loosened her grip a little, pulling back to look Lissa over and make sure she was okay. Physically, she was fine, but Rose could feel her confusion. “It's okay,” she reassured her friend. She was glad the burns from the red alert had healed, so Lissa wouldn't have that to freak about on top of everything. “I know this is really crazy, but we’re okay. We’re safe. I'm not even a wanted woman here.”

"What happened?" Lissa asked meaning more about home than she did here. She believed Rose at once that they were safe and even if it was crazy, this would be okay. "I just..." She paused unsure of what exactly she was trying to ask. "What's been going on? How long have you been here? Are you sure you're okay?" She let out the questions quickly.

“They don't seem to really know what's bringing us here,” Rose said, not really liking that she didn't have all the answers. “I've been here for about 6 weeks now, but I'm fine. They've been pretty great to us, actually. The rooms aren't huge but they're not horrible, they're letting me train in security and the drinks in the lounge are free. All in all, it's pretty cool.”

"Six weeks?" Lissa asked her eyes getting wide. The shock was clear in her features. She heard the rest of what Rose said, but the six weeks was still her focus.

“Yeah.” Rose didn't know what to say about that. She wasn't one to complain about things, but it had been hard being here without anyone from home, especially without Lissa. She'd missed her best friend so much.

“What’s been going on? Are you really okay here? Is everyone treating you okay?” She knew Rose could take care of herself, but that didn't stop her from worrying.

“I'm really okay,” Rose assured her. The bond was only one way but she focused on trying to pull some of Lissa’s anxiety away from her and she hoped if Lissa was looking at her aura, she could see she was telling the truth. “It's actually been pretty cool. I’ve met some awesome people, I've been living on a freaking spaceship, I got to go explore Alaska, it's been seriously awesome, Liss!”

Looking around to make sure no one was around to hear, she added, “I'm free here. No one here has even heard of us. No one wants to lock me up here or thinks I'm a murderer.” She knew Lissa had never believed the accusations for a second and she had to know how much Rose had hated being in that cell. She had to understand what being free meant for Rose.

Lissa still couldn't get used to the idea of living on a spaceship. She imagined that was something that would take time to get used to and accept.

Even though Lissa wanted to ask more about Alaska she didn't, she was focused on what Rose was saying about not being locked up. "Of course you're not a murderer," Lissa said without thinking about how Rose knew Lissa didn't think she was. "It sounds nice," she said honestly. "Not having anyone know who we are, but somehow I doubt that stops you from finding trouble!" She added in a light-hearted tease.

Rose knew Lissa believed she was innocent, but it was still nice hearing the words and feeling that conviction through the bond. She didn’t like admitting it, but it hurt knowing that so many of the people she’d grown up liking and respecting thought differently. She wasn’t even sure Adrian didn’t think she’d done it. There had to be a reason he hadn’t been to see her.

“Trouble? Me?” Rose turned to Lissa with a perfectly angelic expression that they both knew Lissa could see right through.

"Uh huh," Lissa said with a skeptical but amused expression. "Tell me everything."

Rose laughed at Lissa’s expression. “Seriously, I haven’t gotten in that much trouble,” she said truthfully. “There was this one little thing where I got caught too close to the armory after I kind of got a little lost, but, there was a red alert and a fire and it was so not my fault.”

"You got lost, and found the armory on the way?" Lissa asked trying hard not to smile.

“More like I got lost and decided to explore while I was figuring out where to go next,” she answered. “Then the ship hit something and there was a fire. I wasn’t really supposed to be there, but it was either put out the fire or slip through the doors before they closed.” She shrugged, trying not to think about being stuck in that corridor for three days or how long it had taken to get the smell out of her hair. “I had to pull some extra cleaning shifts, but it wasn’t a big deal.”

"So, you're still finding trouble," Lissa smiled knowing full well there was more to that story but deciding not to push it. "So, this is shore leave, right? Show me around. I want to see how different everything is."

Rose could tell Lissa didn't fully believe her, feeling her emotions through the bond. “Seriously, that's all there was to it, Liss. I've actually been trying to stay out of trouble.” She didn't say it out loud, but the last thing she wanted was to end up in the brig. She never wanted to be locked up again.

“You missed the trip to Portland,” Rose told her, happy to change the subject, “but this is pretty freaking awesome, too. Everything is definitely different, but the best part is there aren't any strigoi. Plus all the really cool technology.” Showing Lissa around was definitely something she could do. Maybe they'd even find time to do some shopping before they went back to the ship.

"I'd love to go back to Portland someday," Lissa admitted with a small smile. "Well, come on, let's go look around." She smiled, letting Rose take the lead.
