Poe was excited about visiting Hawaii, not only did it look like an incredible place but it was also a chance to spend some more prolonged time with Jaina. They’d gone on a lot of outings together and spent a fair amount of time in each others company anyway but there was something about this. It felt like there could be a change coming and Poe was happily anticipating it.

Greeting Jaina with a smile and a wave he made his way over to her, they’d decided to spend the day on the beach. Poe had his swimming trunks on already under his shorts and was in his tshirt. The weather was incredibly warm and he scouted the area for a moment before pointing out a shaded spot, “How about we set up over there?” he suggested to her after giving her a greeting hug and cheek kiss as had become custom now.

Being pulled from her own world into a completely different one had been a shock. At first despite the presence of Anakin and Tahiri as well as the friendship that she had developed with Rose, Jaina had had days where she’d felt almost lost and wondered where she belonged in all this. There were a lot of things that didn’t make sense and she longed to talk to somebody about them but instead she had kept them to herself. Then she’d wandered into the lounge that night and met Poe. She felt as if she already knew him from things that Rey had said but once they started spending more time together, she’d come to discover what a wonderful man he was and how much they had in common.They hadn’t been hiding anything from anyone but they hadn’t come out and named what was going on between them either. Jaina would have told anyone that asked that she and Poe had been spending a lot of time together and that she liked him alot but so far no one had. This trip would change that though and she didn’t mind at all.

She’d gone shopping with Tahiri not long after they’d all decided to come here and she’d been amazed at how little clothing earth women wore on the beach. For someone who spent most of her time in flight suits and Jedi robes, Jaina felt practically naked in her swimsuit. When Poe walked up to her and kissed her cheek, she couldn’t help the big smile that lit her face. The look in his eyes told her that she’d made a good choice and she was looking forward to spending the day with him. “That sounds good to me. It’s not too close to the water and probably won’t be that hot.”

It was probably only thanks to the many missions he’d been on before and the fact that the General and BB8 were with him that Poe was able to stay as calm and collected as he was about being displaced so far from home. He was curious of course, he wanted to know how and why they were here but nobody seemed to have any idea. And above all he wanted to get back up into the sky, among the stars but even that was going to take time. Luckily he had Jaina and she was the best distraction ever, more than a distraction an incredible discovery. One he wanted to hold onto for a long time.

Nobody had commented on the time they were spending together to Poe not that he would have denied it, he enjoyed her company and her in general and was proud of it.

“You look amazing by the way” he told her, as he took her hand and they walked towards the spot he had picked to lay down the towels he had brought with him, thanks to a little research he’d done beforehand.

Jaina had always been a tomboy, she’d never cared much for clothes and boys and the things that most of her friends cared about. Part of that was the fact that she’d been raised knowing that one day she’d be a Jedi and also because she was far more interesting in flying than anything else. Hearing Poe tell her that she looked amazing? She couldn’t imagine anything feeling any better than that and it surprised her just how much she liked it. “Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself,” she teased as they sat down.

Looking out at the waves, she sighed. “It’s so beautiful here. I’ve never seen a beach like this. I’ve been to the beach on Mon Calamari and to the lake country on Naboo but it’s nothing like this.” Perhaps it was because she wasn’t here as a representative of the Jedi Council or her family or for any other reason besides enjoying herself. “The company here might have something to do with that too,” she said, smiling over at Poe.

While Poe had always been obsessed with flying and it was most definitely his first love he couldn’t say that it was the only thing that he enjoyed. He was an open friendly man who enjoyed giving and receiving affection, both emotional and tactile. Giving true and honest compliments was all part and parcel of that. “Well thank you, just wait until we’re in the water” he teased her with a somewhat flirty wink.

“It really is a sight like no other” he told her, though his eyes didn’t leave hers when he said it, when Poe was in the right mood with the right person he could be incredibly smooth. As they sat down he smiled at her and brushed her hair from her shoulder, “Company that I hope you will continue to enjoy”

She leaned over and brushed her lips lightly against his. If anyone was watching, she didn’t care and she’d been thinking about it ever since he’d walked up to her so why not do it? “I plan on doing just that,” she said when she pulled away. “Getting to know you has been the highlight of this whole experience.” Jaina was nothing if not straightforward. Both of her parents had always said pretty much exactly what they thought although her mother had sometimes had to hold her tongue in her diplomatic career and their daughter followed suit. Besides it was true and it surprised her just how easy it was to be with Poe. At home she was often approached by men who wanted to date her because of who she was and what she might be able to do for them but that wasn’t the case with Poe. Jaina knew he liked her for who she really was and that made her like him all the more.

Poe knew what it was like to be wanted purely for what somebody thought you could do for them and it wasn’t a pleasant feeling. But with Jaina there was no expectations from either side, they were simply two people who enjoyed each other's company and who had a lot in common. And of course the physical attraction was most definitely there, it sparked between them each time they were together.

“I could not have said it better myself” he smiled, “I am looking forward to continuing to get to know you even more” He leaned closer to press their lips together once again, showing her that he too did not mind who saw them. He’d wanted to kiss her for a while now and felt like she had given her permission for him to do so by initiating their first contact.

At first Jaina couldn’t decide if he hadn’t kissed her because he wasn’t sure that he wanted to or if he was being a little old fashioned which she thought was incredibly sweet. She was glad it turned out to be that since kissing him was turning out to be very nice and she’d be happy to do it all day except for the fact that she didn’t want the rest of the people on the beach to stare at them.

When they broke apart she smiled at him and touched his face. “Yeah, I think we need to do a lot more of that in a less public place.”

Poe smiled, “I love how we agree on so many things” he told her, amusement and desire swirling in his eyes. While he could be flirty and carefree he was also at his core a gentleman and he always would be. His respect for women was incredibly high, thanks to the strong powerful women he’d encountered in his life and it was something he was proud of.

“Until then let’s enjoy what this planet has to offer” he added with a wink, before he took off his shirt and lay back on one of the towels he’d spread out, his eyes on her the whole time.

She certainly wasn’t going to have a problem enjoying the view, thought Jaina when Poe took off his shirt. She’d been expecting it to be a very nice sight but it was even better than she’d thought it would and she was rather glad he wasn’t Force sensitive at the moment since her thoughts had immediately wandered to things that this place had to offer that did not involve sightseeing.

“You know I don’t think enjoying what this place has to offer is going to be a problem at all,” she said and raised an eyebrow. “Especially if you’re planning on sitting around without your shirt on. Too bad I don’t have my lightsaber. It might come in handy if some of the local girls think they can come over here and tempt you away.” she laughed. “And no I wouldn’t actually hurt them but they wouldn’t know that and it looks pretty impressive even when you’re not going to use it.”

Poe wasn’t a shy person at all and worked hard to keep in shape so he was pleased to see an appreciative glance come his way from Jaina, the appreciation was definitely a two way thing. She absolutely distracted him so it was only fair the other way around too.

He laughed lightly, a soft sound but an honest one, “I can put the shirt back on if you’d prefer?” he teased her, “But I can promise you, there’s no chance I will be tempted away. I have no interest in anybody other than you”

“No way. Keep it off,” she said with a laugh. “I’m fine with it. Oh wait…” Jaina turned around and picked up a tube of sunblock. “We’re supposed to wear this according to the people at the hotel. You can do me and then I’ll do you.” She bit her lip as she handed it to him, trying to suppress the giggles that were threatening to burst out of her. Scolding herself for her dirty mind, she pulled her braid around to the front and settled so Poe could be the sunblock on her back.

Poe couldn’t stop the knowing smirk appearing on his face when she handed him the cream, “It’ll be my pleasure” he told her giving her a wink before pouring some of the block onto his hands and massaging it into her skin. He tried to keep his mind on safer things but it was tough, her skin was smooth and supple under his hands as he applied the cream.

It felt amazing and Jaina couldn’t help but sigh. “That feels good,”She turned around after a few minutes and moved to get behind him. “”Your turn, “ she said and began to put the sunblock on his back. It was definitely a very nice back and Jaina was enjoying the feel of his muscles under her fingers. “I know we’ve gone to all this trouble to put this stuff on but I have a confession to make,” she moved so she could see his face and grinned at him. “My mind is not on staying near this beach right now.”

If he thought it was bad when he’d been touching her it was nothing to when she returned the favour. His mind strayed far too often and he chastised himself, he wasn’t a youth being touched for the first time after all. When she made her confession his smile was bright, “Now I feel much better for letting my own thoughts stray” he admitted bringing a hand up to lay against her cheek, “Wanna get off the beach and find somewhere a little more secluded?” he asked, thumb caressing her cheekbone as he spoke.

“I can’t think of anything I would like better,” she said with a smile. He really had the most beautiful eyes, she thought. “Where would you suggest? I’m good with any place that’s away from prying eyes.”

“Is suggesting my room too forward?” he asked her, he wanted to be alone with her and knew she felt the same but didn’t want to put any undue pressure on her or make her think there was any expectation beyond what she was willing to give.

“No, not in the least. If you hadn’t suggested it, I would have,” Jaina didn’t believe in beating around the bush and it was what she wanted. There weren’t a lot of opportunities to be alone with anyone on the ship due to the living arrangements so she was all for taking advantage of where they were for the moment. She leaned over and kissed him softly.

Poe was fairly spontaneous but he was also a gentleman and manners were very much a part of him. Once they were settled in a more official relationship he’d relax more but for now manners were still a thing. Smiling into the kiss Poe returned it, letting one hand slide to her nape while the other rested on her waist. “Let’s get out of here” he said, when they parted, taking her hand in his as they stood.
