Swimming Pool Substitute
Who: Ax and open
When: 6/23
Where: The pool
Summary: Ax and his morning ritual
Warnings: None

Ax much preferred a natural body of water for this, but since the ship didn't have any the way Andalite dome ships did, he'd have to settle for the humans' swimming pool. There still wasn't any grass, but he'd make do anyway. He made the trip down here each morning, but not to swim. It was a daily ritual that Andalite warriors performed, a chance for self reflection and reflection on the mission and their lives.

< From the water that gave birth to us >
He dipped his right forehoof in the water

< From the grass that feeds us >

He turned his hoof, what would have been the crushing of grass beneath his right forehoof, if there'd been any grass.

< For the freedom that unites us >

He spread arms out wide

< We rise to the stars >

He raised his head, looking to where the rising sun would have been, with all four eyes.

< Freedom is my only cause. Duty to the people, my only guide. Obedience to my prince, my only glory. The destruction of my enemies, my most solemn vow. I Aximili Esgarrouth-Istall, Andalite cadet, offer my life >

He assumed the ritual's ending stance and raised his tailblade to his throat, silently contemplating for a few moments. To an onlooker, it might appear to be something more troubling, but he was not about to actually use the blade, and it was lowered to its normal position after a few moments.

Ax realized that the human must have mistaken his ritual for something more troubling. He lowered his tail and shook his head.

< Do not worry. It is not anything like that. It is a morning ritual of my people. But I will not kill myself. It is simply a time for contemplation and thought about our lives and missions. >

He was trying to explain it without going deep into things he'd rather not have to discuss.

Well, Stiles definitely felt stupid now. He'd interrupted something that was...sacred, maybe? And that was a crap thing to do, no matter where you happened to be from.

"Sorry," he said. "I thought..." He made a vague hand gesture. It was obvious enough what he'd thought and he wasn't doing himself any favors standing g here and awkwardly trying to explain himself.

"Um, so, the pool," he said, abruptly trying to change the subject. "Do they sell swim suits anywhere?"

He had about a billion questions he wanted to ask the guy about who he was and what he was doing, but it just didn't seem appropriate after he'd already interrupted his prayer time.

< It is all right. > Ax replied. < I can see how it might look troubling to someone who did not know what it was. >

Ax had contemplated going for a swim at times, but it would be complicated trying to morph shark or dolphin, and Andalites weren't natural swimmers for the most part. Either way, he didn't know much about the humans' artificial skins.

< I am not certain. > he replied.
