Who: Octavia Blake and Lissa Dragomir
What: Meeting the bunkmate
Where: D31
When: Shortly after Octavia's arrival
Warnings: Possible references to violence and character death
Status: Closed/Ongoing

No matter how many times she closed her eyes and re-opened them, Octavia did not wake up back in Polis. It wasn't like she specifically wanted to be there. In fact, the last thing she remembered before waking up in a strange medbay was killing Pike and walking out with no real plan in mind about her next steps. She wanted nothing to do with her brother, nothing to do with any of the people who were responsible for Lincoln's death, but where did that leave her? Would the Trikru welcome her back after what the Skaikru did? She wouldn't blame them if they didn't.

It seemed as if she didn't have to figure that out now anyway. From what the uniformed officials told her, she was stuck here for an unknown length of time. Back in space. At least she wasn't confined to a small cell which meant it was automatically better than the Ark.

Carrying her meager belongings and feeling the loss of her sword, she entered her assigned quarters and gave the blonde inside an appraising once over. "I'm Octavia," she said, figuring she may as well be friendly.

Sitting on her assigned bed with her legs pulled up under her, Lissa had her PADD in front of her and lost in reading the history of the world. She was completely entranced reading about the different species in the galaxy when her new roommate came in.

In a lot of ways the girl reminded her of Rose, clearly tough, maybe a little unsure, but she figured anyone who showed up here like they did would be a little unsure. "I'm Lissa," she said untangling herself, dropping her PADD on the bed she moved to stand to offer Octavia, her hand. "It's nice to meet you," she said glancing back at where she'd been sitting, she had a bag of chips sitting on her bed. "Are you hungry? I've got some chips, or if you like I can show you to the mess, or the lounge."

Apparently her new roommate was friendly. Something about the way she carried herself made Octavia think of Clarke, but she shook off the thought. "Thanks, I'm okay right now," she said. "I don't know what to think about any of this. I never thought I'd be stuck on a spaceship again."

At least this one wasn't like the Ark with it's draconian rules and rations. From what she'd been told, it sounded like the Earth hadn't been destroyed in this universe and they were actually able to visit a number of planets.

"You have a small advantage, you've lived on a spaceship," Lissa smiled." For me, the concept of extended stays in space were extremely uncommon unless you were part of NASA or another nation's space program, me, I was studying diplomacy and international relations. Not exactly on the path to live in space." She didn't add anything about what was happening in her world before she showed up here.

"The ship's nice, huge, there is a lounge on deck five and everyone I've talked to thus far is welcoming." She knew coming to a new place could be scary. "Is there anyone from where you are from here? That you know of?"

It sounded like this ship was at least comparable in size to the Ark. Of course, it would be a little different being able to move freely around. Octavia spent nearly all of her first sixteen years stuck in one small room and then locked up for the crime of merely existing. She didn't want to get into all of that with her new roommate though.

"Not that I'm aware of," Octavia said. "But I haven't really talked to many people yet either." Just the medical staff, the liaison person, and now Lissa. "How long have you been here?"

"Just a week now, when I arrived we were on Earth before heading back here to the ship. I actually had a different roommate, but it appears she left," Lissa said, she didn't get a chance to know her previous roommate much as she'd spent most of her time with Rose.

"Well, you're always welcome to come join Rose and I for dinners and things," Lissa offered given that Octavia didn't know if there was anyone she knew here yet. "Rose is my best friend from home." Lissa clarified.

"You were on Earth?" Octavia asked. "Was it... I mean, do you have any idea what year it was there? In my world, Earth was nearly destroyed by a nuclear war almost a hundred years ago."

With any luck, they hadn't been to Earth in her time. That would not have been fun for anyone.

"Only for a couple of days," Lissa thought for a moment on how best to answer that question. "It was different, but it was safe, the air was clean, I heard something about a climate change problem, but I haven't read all the details on it yet," Lissa said.

"Earth was destroyed where you're from?"

That didn't sound like her version of Earth. Which was probably for the best. "Yeah. That's why I grew up in space." Octavia really didn't feel like getting into the sad details of her upbringing and she hoped that Lissa wouldn't ask too many questions. If she did, she would just have to deflect as best as she could.

"Where is home for you?" she asked.

"It must be strange, being on a completely different kind of space vessel," Lissa couldn't imagine it really, but this was all still so new to her as it was.

"I was living at Court. It's in Pennsylvania," she paused. "Well, I guess I should say it was, I don't think it exists in this world. "

From the old maps Octavia remembered studying, she thought that Pennsylvania was not too far from where the Delinquents landed, though it was likely very different from what Lissa knew.

"Court?" she asked. "Like the royal kind or the criminal kind?" She was assuming the former because her new roommate did not give off any sort of criminal vibes, but looks could be deceiving.

A faint blush crossed her cheeks. "The Royal kind," she answered. Lissa didn't add that she did once help break someone out of jail. That wasn't something she wanted to think about much. "My people govern somewhat separately from the rest of the world. We follow their laws as well, but we have our own too." Well, they followed most of the typical human laws.

Everything Octavia knew about royal courts was from fairy tales and other stories, so she didn't have a great concept of what Lissa's life was like before coming here. "So I guess this is a lot different for you," she said. "How are you liking it here?"

"It's a little overwhelming, but there is just so much to learn and explore. I have to admit I find it really exciting. I miss some of home, and some of what I was doing, but I like it here," Lissa said with a smile. "Do you want me to show you around."

Octavia smiled at the offer. "I would appreciate that," she said. "Thank you." Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. She'd left Polis with no idea of where she was going or what she was going to do next.
