WHO: Rose Hathaway & Jaina Solo. WHEN: Backdated to Jaina's arrival. WHERE: Their apartment. SUMMARY: First meeting... sort of. WARNINGS: None.
An irritating conversation had left Rose in a bad mood, but she didn't want to take it out on her roommates. Instead, she'd made her way to the gym area and attempted to work out her frustrations, literally. She was grateful to have her freedom here, but it wasn't perfect. Hearing people talk about the people the had from home made her homesick. She missed Lissa. She missed Adrian. She even missed her parents.
The workout helped and she headed back to her quarters, planning to grab a non-sweaty change of clothes out of her bedroom before she grabbed a shower. Before she could make it, though, she nearly walked right into the back of a brunette who was letting herself into the suite. It wasn't Rey or Lily, so she drew the logical conclusion.
“Hey, you must be the new roommate. Jaina, right?” She'd seen the notice on her PADD during her walk back to her quarters along with the notice that their fourth room was about to be occupied.
Jaina was about to go in the door when she heard her name and turned around to see who was talking to her. “That’s me,” she said with a smile. “You’re Rose, right?” The fact that she knew the girl’s name before she had even told her startled Jaina at first but there was something familiar about her although there shouldn’t be since they were meeting for the first time. “So you’re one of my roommates. I’m pretty easy to get along with, I don’t snore or anything obnoxious like that.” as if on cue, there came a loud hiss from the bag that Jaina was carrying. “Shut up, you.” she said to the bag.
When they were inside, she took her things to the room Rose pointed out and literally let the cat out of the bag, closing the door behind her. “Sorry about the hissing,” she said as she took a seat on the couch. “That would be Giselle. I have no idea where she came from, she just appeared on my doorstep last week and adopted me. The only reason I know her name is because one of her previous owners had a collar made for her and that was the name on it. She’s pretty sassy which might be why we get along. I don’t know why she was hissing though, she usually doesn’t do that.”
Rose nodded. “The one and only. How’d you know?” The cat distracted her from her question and she let out a groan. She had a pet. Great. She doubted the captain would consider that a good reason to change rooms.
“Cat’s don’t really [...] like me,” she explained vaguely. That was an understatement. Animals of all kinds hated dhampirs. She’d barely coexisted with Oscar and he’d gotten used to her after while. This wasn’t really making her day better. Sassy, she could get on board with, but she definitely wasn’t an animal person.
“I don’t know how I knew,” she replied. “I just knew that you weren’t either of the other two listed on the PADD. But it’s nice to meet you and I promise that I’ll keep Giselle out of your way. The truth is that I didn’t even know she was with me until they made me unpack my stuff and there she was. They took my light saber but I wish they’d taken her. I don’t know who she actually belongs to but apparently she thinks it’s me now.”
Rose made a face and nodded. “They take everyone’s weapons, but I hear you’ll get them back as long as you don’t, like, try to kill someone or something. I hope that’s right. It feels weird being unarmed, even if there’s not much chance of getting in a fight here.”
“How did you end up with a surprise cat in you bag, anyway?” she asked. “That’s kind of random.”
“Well that’s good to know. I would be very unhappy if I didn’t get it back and I don’t think they want to piss me off.” Jaina would be the first to admit that there were Jedi who had more powers than her but she had amassed a pretty good set over the years and while she might not look it, she could be pretty threatening when she wanted to be. “I have no kriffing idea how I ended up with this cat. I think she’s somehow connected to something that happened a while back. I don’t know but she just appeared on my doorstep and moved herself right in. What made her jump in the bag I don’t know but she must enjoy dimension hopping because she didn’t seem the least bit annoyed when we got here. I was more annoyed than she was.”
Rose grinned, thinking she was really going to like this girl, despite the cat. “Well, if it makes you feel better about your weapon, there is a lounge that serves free drinks,” she offered. There seemed to be a lot of other cool things here, too, at least as far as she could see.
“Free drinks? Sounds like my kinda place,” Jaina grinned. She’d inherited more than her love of flying from her father after all. Being half Corellian gave her an appreciation for a good drink and the ability to drink a lot of guys under the table. Although she might wait until she’d been here a bit longer before she attempted that.
“Come on, I'll Show you,” she offered, as long as we can leave the cat behind.”
Jaiana laughed. “I think she’ll be pretty happy to hang out in my room for a while. Let me just put her in there and we can go.” She smiled and took her things into her room, depositing Giselle on the bed before she ran a brush through her hair and got ready to head to the lounge with her new friend.
