The past week had been entirely too much like taking a holiday for Helen’s liking. She’d never particularly cared for holidays. Relaxing simply wasn’t to her nature. She would have preferred to be doing something useful.

It was, however, nice to be off the ship. And the scenery was beautiful.

This Earth seemed so distant from her own. She had to wonder if it was the sort of Earth she had to look forward to if they ever managed to return her to her own place and time, and if she would live long enough to find out. The thought of surviving another two centuries was enough to make her chest ache. It was in the quiet moments that she most deeply felt the weight of her longevity. Another reason to dislike holidays.

Perhaps once they were back aboard the Enterprise, she would speak with Dr. McCoy. If she couldn’t return to her own universe, she would see about making a place for herself in this one.
