WHO: Anna and Kristoff.
WHEN: 226405.27
WHERE: Disneyland, early evening.
SUMMARY: A romantic stroll through the grotto.
WARNINGS: Probably the only warning here is going to be the ‘can you handle how adorable this log is’ warning. No, seriously, rated A for adorable.

Disneyland was huge, and exciting, and full of adventure! Also filled with rides and shops that sometimes featured people who looked exactly like herself and her immediate friends and family. Anna was taking it all in stride, much like she took every other part of her life.

The three of them had been walking around the park together for a little while, taking in all the sights, when they made their way closer to the Castle at the center. Anna spotted a series of pools and bridges, romantic trees and lights. Elsa didn't have to look at her puppy eyes for long before her older sister was shooing the young couple in that direction. Elsa went to go and get some ice cream, and Anna took Kristoff's hand.

She guided him off into the little area, and bounced on her heels as they started walking over a bridge. "This reminds me of the gardens behind the Castle back home," She remarked, squeezing Kristoff's hand. "It's not our Castle, of course, but it's so pretty."

Kristoff was having a very good day. He’d found that he had begun having more very good days (as opposed to good days and just normal days and also not so good days) since coming to know Anna. And today, at Disneyland, with Elsa and Anna, with all of the food and sweets and bright colors and the Castle - well, this was a very good day.

He squeezed her hand and let himself be guided over near the Castle. “And it’s so warm here. Did you notice that? I know we’ve got summer and it’s great but I’ve never been this warm before.” His eyes brightened when he lifted his face up to enjoy the late spring California sunlight.

"It's always warm around you!" Anna blurted, then blinked her eyes and added, "Uhm. But yes, it does seem warmer. I'm glad that Elsa made me a few dresses that are lighter, and a little shorter." The one she was wearing was still conservative, reaching just below her knees. But it was a far cry from the thick dresses and extra underpinnings she was used to. "I thought the ship was warm. When we were all in the mess hall I was so sure we were all going to die from the heat."

She bounced on her heels, "I guess there's no ice around here. I wonder where they're hiding it. I'd ask Elsa to make it snow but everyone would panic. Including her, I think?"

A blush lit across Kristoff’s cheeks but he didn’t stop grinning at her because, what a compliment! He wanted to put his arm around her the way he saw some of the other men do as they were walking around, but he didn’t want to make any assumptions. And he kept his arms firmly at his sides. “I like that dress on you,” he said.

He glanced around at everyone wearing light-weight clothes, the type of which he’d never really seen before. Then again, he wasn’t even used to seeing what people wore on that starship they were living on. “They have to have ice somewhere,” he said, a bit sadly. He didn’t know what to do without ice around.

"Elsa and I are working on a program for that 'holodeck' that will let us skate around on a pond. Well, SHE'S going to skate, she's a good skater, I'm mostly going to fall I think. Maybe we can make you a place to get ice? You could learn to carve it! Like make sculptures?" Anna thought Kristoff would be a natural at making pretty things out of the ice. She remembered how stunned he was with Elsa's work.

There were definitely other couples around them, taking advantage of the romantic scenery. Anna studied them with her eyes for a moment, not just noticing how people acted in this modern time but also what they were wearing. "Do you think we should buy you something to wear that's a little less warm? I think you'd look handsome in some of these shirts! There are probably some shops back in town."

She stepped a little closer to him and bumped her hip against his. "I've got some credits they gave me."

His eyes lit up at the idea of making ice sculptures. He had often whittled when he was with Sven moving from place to place, camping out for the night. Maybe it was a similar action with ice. If he wasn’t needed to harvest it, it might be nice to do something like that.

“Oh, you don’t have to spend your credits on me,” he said quickly. “But I can buy something if you pick it out for me. I don’t know what I’d get. I bet you’d find something good for me.” He carefully, and hesitantly, slid his arm around her back when she bumped into him.

That was nice, Anna decided. They'd come from an age where the rules were a lot more strict, but this didn't seem out of place at all. She leaned against him for a moment, like she'd seen some of the other ladies do, and giggled. "There are some good things about being in the future," She decided aloud.

"I think I could. You shouldn't wear something just because I pick it out, though! What if I pick out something hideous?" Which she would definitely not do on purpose just to see his reaction. She was always too eager to please for that. But they didn't have similar tastes all the time. "You look good in blue, that's a good place to start."

“I like the color blue,” Kristoff agreed. He also didn’t think that Anna would pick out something hideous, but he certain about that either. “What about you? Can I buy something for you, too?” He was already thinking about what he might want to get her, though he’d have to look in the shops to see what they had available.

"Oh! Uhm..." Anna giggled a bit, ducking her head and trying not to blush extensively. Mostly, she failed. "Of course you can! I like all kinds of things, you could probably buy me a sandwich and I'd love you forever. Not that I don't already. Love you, I mean. And you probably meant something a little longer lasting than a sandwich."

Receiving presents from boyfriends was new territory for her, and she suddenly felt awkward all over again. It was a good thing that Kristoff liked that about her. "But it's only fair, I guess. Since I want to buy you things, too. We should get something for Sven while we're here! Maybe something pretty to decorate his antlers with. He really seems to like that kind of thing."

He caught her hand in his and swung it between them as they walked. “You know, I am getting hungry,” he said. Just the mention of a sandwich made his stomach rumble. “Maybe we can get ice cream,” he suggested, the idea of the cold, tasty treat making his mouth water too. He smiled over at her. “Sven would definitely like something for his antlers. What about sparkly lights?”

"Oooo, sparkly lights. I bet he'd love those!" Anna nodded, squeezing Kristoff's hand again. She was definitely getting hungry, too. The park seemed to have food for sale around every corner, and if she hadn't mentioned sandwiches the delicious smells would have caught up to her eventually. "I hear they have ice cream shaped like Mickey Mouse's head. Dipped in chocolate!"

Which, everyone knew, was Anna's favorite food group. "Maybe on the other side of this area?" Elsa had gone to find some ice cream, too, but Anna wasn't in a rush to meet up with her just yet. She loved her sister, but this time with Kristoff was wonderful too.

Kristoff nodded. “Won’t it feel weird to be biting into an ice cream shaped like a mouse’s head?” he asked. He hadn’t seen anyone with this type of ice cream yet so he wasn’t even sure what it looked like. “But I do like chocolate”

Anna considered that for a moment. Would it be kind of strange to bite into a mouse's head? She didn't recall a moment in time where she'd ever eaten something that was shaped like anything or anyone else other than... the food that it was to begin with. Her lips screwed up for a few moments, "You might have a point, there. But chocolate! How about... gigantic sundaes? Those won't be weird, right?"

They crossed the last bridge in the grotto and found themselves back along a cobbled street that curved in a big circle around the castle. Anna looked this way and that, trying to decide on a direction. "Chocolate always has this fantastic smell, we should follow our noses!"

Kristoff liked the idea of a giant sundae. “Maybe it’ll be bigger than our heads!” he said excitedly, lacing his fingers through hers and pulling her over toward a building that had a giant ice cream cone on its facade. “I bet we can find something here.” He grinned down at her. It was pretty obvious they were in the right place, but he was still pleased with himself that he managed to find it so quickly.

"So big our heads freeze just trying to eat it!" Anna was so on board for this. If there had been a gauntlet thrown down over how much of that sundae she could eat? The challenge had been accepted.

She looked up at Kristoff admiringly, "I knew there was a reason I loved you so much. Look how quickly you found the ice cream!"

Of course there were other reasons. Tons of them, actually, and she could list them off if anyone asked. Some people at the castle had already heard them all, since it was hard to get Anna to be quiet about anything she cared about. "You're the best, Kristoff. You really are."

He hadn’t really done anything at all except turned in the correct direction, but he didn’t mind hearing the compliments. He rubbed his thumb over her hand and pulled her in for a side hug as they walked up to the shop. “Well, I think you’re the best, Anna, and we can’t both be the best.”

"We can be the best together," Anna decided. Since they were together, and she hoped that never changed. "That way neither one of us gets as big a head as these ice cream sundaes we're about to eat!"

She rested her head against him for a few seconds, taking in the sights and smells of the shop they'd stopped in front of. It was a nice quiet moment with Kristoff, all snuggled up against him, before the excitement over their ice cream adventure breached containment.

When it finally bubbled up too high, she broke the embrace and took off for the door, pulling him after her. Delicious ice cream waited for no one!
