WHO: Jen Shepard
WHEN: 226404.28
WHERE: Shepard's room
SUMMARY: Shepard ponders her place on the Enterprise
WARNINGS: None particularly.

Jen took a deep breath. She really should find some way to fill her time on the Enterprise. Sure, she'd needed a break--she couldn't remember the last time she'd gotten as much sleep as she had lately--but sleep and booze did not exactly make a fulfilling...what? Retirement? Jen wasn't completely sure she even knew what that meant. She'd never really thought about it, much less thought she'd live to the typical retirement age.

She didn't know how not to be a soldier.

There were positions available on the ship, she knew. Non-commissioned officer positions that wouldn't put the weight of this universe on her shoulders. She could do that, maybe. Would be like working under Anderson again. Kind of. It'd be a lot more like her early days than her brief stint as XO.

Tactical or security, maybe. No one needed her driving or piloting anything.

But for now, she could do with a nightcap before bed. Decisions could wait until she'd slept on them.
