Everything about the day was already unbelievable but when Remus said that everyone, himself included, had thought he'd betrayed his best friend?

"I would never ever betray any of you," he said, pacing the room. "I can't believe Peter would either, I mean, I just saw him yesterday! But I would die for any one of you, or Lily, or Harry James Potter and yet everyone somehow thinks I'd turn on them? Bloody hell! I end up in Azkaban? And you thought I deserved to be there?"

He was angry. Furious, really, and there were tears of frustration and some unfathomable sadness for deaths and betrayals that had not yet occurred in his lifetime that he couldn't fully comprehend. "How could you think I would betray them?"

Sirius was tempted to leave. He didn't want to believe a damn word Remus was saying, but the proof was in his friend sitting there, old enough to have lived through it all.

"I have to get back. I have to change this."
