WHO: Loki & Elsa
WHEN: 226404.15
WHERE: Empty room aboard the ship.
SUMMARY: Inaugural Meeting of the Royal Ice Magic Squad
WARNINGS: N/A (In-Progress)

Loki did not much care for a lot of the monotony of this place. Sure, things in Aagard were often the same from day to day, but they were still far more interesting, to Loki. Back home Thor and companions were always rushing off on foolish adventures, ones that he used to go with them on, then started to refused to attend unless he felt like it but waited a little more anxiously than he cared to admit to hear the inflated stories about, later. There was always something happening, even if it was not something that Loki directly involved himself in, and if not, he had endless reading material - ancient books older than even Odin, magical things to learn and explore and secrets to uncover and create.

Even with his memories of home tarnished and poisoned, he wished to be there. It was a weakness, he supposed, but it was what it was. He could no more stop it than he could forget that which he now knew. Asgard would always be home, at least until he could replace it or purge it from himself.

So, yes, while Asgard had it's own share of boring days, it had something to do. He always had a purpose. Here, he merely had this thin pad of metal and glass, and while there were some things that were posted that he found interesting, more often than not he cared very little about what he saw displayed there. Most of it was so very ordinary. For being in another section of space - and, apparently, time - than he had even been aware existed, things here were really quite mundane and boring.

What was not boring was the sparks of power he could sense on board the vessel, sometimes close, sometimes far, sometimes brighter and sharper in his focus, sometimes dim and indistinct. None of them felt familiar - they were magic of some description, but they were not all the same magic. They were not magic like he had ever seen. They fascinated him, but he was not certain if he should approach the subject publicly, over the communication network in place. Not everyone here had that spark, and even fewer a number than in Asgard - and little was mentioned about it, on the networks. A few mentions, here and there, but for the most part it seemed to go unnoticed.

One of the bright spots of power surged suddenly, and Loki watched it (well, strictly speaking he was not watching, not really; it was all within his mind, nothing like seeing or hearing at all but somehow both at the same time), focused in on it. It was not very far away. He stretched his senses out to see if there was any sort of distress in the area, but he could feel nothing noteworthy, just he background hum of the passengers...

Curious, and bored enough to act upon this curiosity, he stepped out of his chambers and followed the signal of the power as if following some sort of visible beacon. He paused outside a closed door, not quite hesitating, listening, keeping his senses trained on that magical spark he had followed here. Nothing seemed to be amiss inside, but he reached out and opened the door, regardless, quietly pushing it open without bothering to knock or announce his presence.

She'd spent so long afraid of the power within her that Elsa had all but neglected it for years. There was more she could do, she knew that now. She'd briefly mentioned to Caitlin that it was possinle to reverse the things she did. Still, it took effort. Practice. Things she truly needed to work on.

When Dorothy had been returned, she used their room to work on her powers. Snow and ice rarely bothered her and she kept the room several degrees colder than her former roommate might have liked. Now, though, she had a new presence in the room. Rather than risk the woman freezing to death due to a magic Elsa couldn't yet control, she had wandered the ship until she'd come upon what seemed to be an abandoned office. All of the science and technology had been pulled from it, the door opened easily for her, and no one had come in yet in the few times she'd used it.

While she didn't exactly keep her magic a secret, she wasn't running around discussing it, either. Some knew. Lomea, obviously. Caitlin did now, though who she had heard from, Elsa wasn't certain. But until it was more under her control, until her emotions didn't rule every single flake that fell from her fingers, she didn't feel entirely comfortable running about discussing it and doing magic at random.

Yet that didn't stop someone from entering the room unannounced as she froze the table that she assumed used to be someone's desk. "Oh!" The word was more a little gasp as she turned in surprise. That surprise cause a shard of ice, which she forced towards the wall rather than the unsuspecting victim she nearly made contact with. "I'm sorry, I'll leave, I didn't know..." And now she was stammering. What sort of queen stammered at someone else's entrance?

The initial spark of concern when he realized how very icy this magic was faded out quickly - it was definitely not Jotun magic. He would know. He'd sensed that sort of magic before, as closely and personally as his own magic. This was something else entirely.

The young woman responsible for the frozen room seemed a bit... well, timid was perhaps a kind word for it. Her response at noticing his presence was to manifest a missile of ice as if instinctively trying to protect herself - and then to divert it and immediately apologize.

This was... very interesting.

Loki smiled slightly, shaking his head. "No need," he responded, tone as easy and soothing as possible, "My apologies for simply walking in. I sensed ...this," one hand rises to gesture broadly, encompassing the entire room, ending more focused on her, "-and I was curious. I should perhaps have knocked before entering. Forgive me."

Despite the apology, Loki made no move to leave the doorway.

The intruder was a man, probably around her age. Slender, regal. Carried himself with pride. Something she rarely managed. She was a mild and meek mouse compared to the smiling man who'd interrupted her.

But he apologized. And then, something he'd said caught her attention. "You sensed it?" She questioned, curiosity in her words. "How? Are you..." Magical seemed like the dumbest possible word to use there. "Are you like me?"

Ordinarily, back in Arendelle, she would have said impossible. No way. She had yet to meet anyone in the kingdom who shared her skills, or even ones like them. The same couldn't be said for the Enterprise. Magic was all around her, at all times, and in so many ways. People far more powerful than she could hope to be. "Are you cold?" She asked quietly. "I can warm it up a bit..." It so rarely occurred to her that other people might not want a room covered in snow.

The way her voice carried - the uncertain curiosity it held - was even more interesting to Loki than her magic was, perhaps. Had she truly never experienced others with magical abilities? Was it so uncommon, where she came from? How had she learned, if not under the teaching of someone else? The thought that perhaps she, too, had been planted in a place she was not meant to be, reared its ugly head before he succinctly dismissed it. He was not going to dwell on that issue at the present time. No, for now, he had more interesting and less distressing things to think on.

"I am... like you, yes, I suppose." Loki's response was with perhaps a slightly warmer smile, a hint of amusement coloring the words. "I gather that is not something you are accustomed to?"

Her offer to warm the room was met with a small shrug and an even smaller shake of his head. "No need, my dear. The cold has never bothered me." That comes out neatly enough; he used to consider it a point of strength that he never seemed to feel the cold while his brother Thor and his companions all required heavy cloaks or generally reacted much more unfavorably to the cold. He'd always thought that was his one advantage over his brother - so he was, at least, accustomed to that part of it. The why, now... that was a bit less pleasant, but it was easy to shrug off and carry on.

"My name is Loki," he offered, stepping forward slightly and offering a hand to her in greeting. "King of Asgard."

So he was from one of those world's where nearly everyone had power, then? He seemed so surprised that she wasn't. But not accusatory. "No," she admitted, avoiding his cool stare. It wasn't impolite. Just a bit too piercing for her at the moment. "I'm the only one I know of. Back home. Well. And the rock trolls, but they're not exactly people." Olaf had some semblance of power, but as he'd come from her magic, it was really an extension of her work.

He wasn't bothered by the cold? Her mother would have been freezing by that point. The reminder of the woman who'd loved her but had always seemed so worried about her caused her features to darken. "I keep my room at home much colder than most. Not usually with the snow and all but... It's there." Why she was sharing this much with a complete stranger, she wasn't sure. He just seemed so self-assured. Like with Lomea, words sort of tumbled out in his presence.

Then he made his introduction and she could have groaned. Of course he'd be a king. Still, she was the crowned queen, and she'd been raised her whole life to do so. Accepting the offered hand, she lifted her chin and made a low curtsy. "Elsa. Queen of Arendelle. It's a pleasure to meet you." And ghen... Oh, and then. It finally kicked in. The name, the place.

She rose, feeling more than a bit overwhelmed. "Asgard? Home of the gods?" Impossible. Wasn't it? Though there was a man there who claimed to be the devil so... Why not?

Loki was... not unused to being one of few with gifts like his - not in the sense that there was a lack of magic on Asgard, by no means. It was, however, more a womens art. Men were warriors, women were sorceresses - not exclusively, perhaps, but predominently. It would never have been more than a passing oddity if he were anything other than a Prince of Asgard, of course - no one would have paid much mind if he were a common boy growing up small and weaker than others and with a tendency towards magic. But Loki was no common boy, and the whispers and lack of companions with similar interests did not completely escape him. He had his mother, however, and other magically-talented people in the palace, so while he was never surrounded in peers he was also never actually </i>alone</i>, either.

The idea of being completely alone with power such as she seemed to carry was... unpleasant.

"Did you come across these powers recently? An.... incident, perhaps these trolls you speak of?" If his stare had seemed piercing before, it had doubled in intensity now, brows furrowed, curious and sympathetic and probing. "Or have you always been alone with such a great gift?"

Her surprise over his lack of care at the cold was met with simply a small smile, a half-shrug. "It is of no concern to me, my dear. If you wish to create a blizard, I won't object."

A queen? How very interesting. She did not immediately strike him as royalty - she seemed shy, perhaps naive.... perhaps just innocent. As if she'd never been taught the role she now stood in. He was not one to judge - he hardly lived up to the role he was expected to play, either; he was no warrior king like Asgard would expect, as they were accustomed to.

He wasn't even Aesir.

No, he had no room nor reason to judge how she carried herself.

"It is an honor, Queen Elsa of Arendelle." He kissed the back of her hand politely in greeting, dipping into a bit of a lower bow than he might to someone of a lesser status, and rose with a smile, one which lingered as she recognized the name of Asgard. "Yes, that is... well, I've been told those on Midgard refer to it in such a manner, yes."

Midgard. That was them. Or, well, it had been back home. She supposed it might be different now that they were on this ship. It was complicated, probably.

He seemed surprised. Whether it was her age, her quiet nature, or the fact that she barely could control the magic coming from her fingers, he seemed surprised. And she didn't know how to react to that. It wasn't as if she could impress anyone, even at her strongest. And here, in this strange place entirely out of her comfort zone, she couldn't look regal in the slightest.

Still, his greeting was properly formal, and he treated her as an equal. He was a god, and she a mere queen of a tiny kingdom in the north. Yet there he was, greeting her as a fellow royal. Even though she couldn't remember Loki being king in any of the stories she'd read. That didn't matter. While literature and mythology had absolutely been a part of her education, they hadn't been very high on the list of things needed to rule a kingdom.

Right. He'd asked a question. "No," she admitted quietly, hanging her head. Wait. No. She was a queen. A queen with power, one that she was growing more in control of every day. She lifted her chin a bit, meeting that piercing gaze of his. "No. I've had them my whole life. I was born this way." Her parents had always been a blend of afraid and loving. They accepted her, but they never truly wanted her to be what she was.

When Elsa lifted her eyes to his, Loki's smile widened, warmer perhaps than it had been. She was trying to pull herself into the role that fit her as well as his fit him - neither of them were prepared for this. She was like he was, in some ways - perhaps in more ways than were already obvious.

There were a lot of things he wished to understand about her world. She knew of Asgard, knew them as gods, as more than simply other. There were magical beings in her world, but yet no other people, as such - she possessed magic in a world that was predominantly mundane - and powerful magic at that, if he was sensing it correctly...

He imagined she could be very dangerous if she wished to be - and very useful, too. Perhaps that was not the best thought to be having - the idea of people as tools was perhaps not the kindest sentiment, perhaps he should have thought less strategically, but then again he was a king now and wasn't that the entire point of being a king? To move the pieces where they were best used? It didn't directly imply unkindness, it simply meant that there were priorities at hand that were different from what another person might have.

She would be a very important ally, he decided. He would help her, teach her, and ensure that she had no reason to ever turn against him.

Magic was not an isolated thing. If the world existed with magic within it, which it clearly did, then she could not be the first, or the only one - and if she was, that only meant that she was where the magic was born. She could be the start of mortal magic on Midgard, bringing them into the age where they would be worthy of a proper alliance and interaction with Asgard, without fear of the Jotun or any others invading their home world because they could fight back. They could travel the whole world tree once magic had spread among them.

She - Queen Elsa of Arendelle - was a step in that direction.

"Show me what you can do," he said - it wasn't quite a demand, but nor was it a request. It lingered somewhere between the two, friendly but insistent, polite but eager.

Loki was entirely correct about at least one thing. She could be very dangerous if she chose. And, sometimes, even if she didn't choose. She would never choose to hurt another person. But accidents happened. And so did self defense. After the events that led to her arrival on this ship, she was always a little more on her guard. No, Hans and his foolish guard may not have been there, but they could show up. And who knew which of these people could prove a threat?

Still. So far, Loki had been nothing but courteous and cordial. Given his status, who he was, she hadn't done anything to earn that. She was grateful, though. And he had power. Power similar to hers, probably much more refined.

Better still, he wanted to see her abilities.

It did come out a bit like a command, and she hesitated. The only person she ever really did her magic for was Anna. And it had been a very long time ago. Also, she had never really 'performed' before someone else with abilities. Lomea had seen her do a couple of things, but never by request.

She nodded, though. Turning away from the man, she focused. Several inches of snow began to fall around them. With a determined expression, she formed the snow into the shape of a person. Another breath and the snow turned to ice, crystal clear and see through.

It was only when she turned back to Loki that she realized she'd made the shape of her sister. "I can do a few things. Some I try not to do here. Just in case." If she hurt anyone else, she'd never forgive herself.

Her hesitation did not go unnoticed - but he did not need to encourage her further before she nodded and turned away from him. It did not take much effort to sense her power ramping up as the room grew cooler and began to fill with snow - he scarcely had to turn his senses outward to feel it, a thin sparkle of power that was deceptively delicate for how very strong it was. It would be easy to recognize, now that he was observing it, both physically and with the magical senses that served as secondary eyes seeing only what could not be seen. The snowfall wrapped the room in a glittering blanket of magic, and Loki quietly closed the door he'd opened on his way in, keeping the chill from escaping into the halls.

The snow took shape quickly into that of a being, and Loki was momentarily amused - the idea that with all her power, she was creating a simple structure of snow was an entertaining one. Did she truly not realize how much power she held? Then the snow crystalized further, detail blooming from the frozen sculpture, and Loki's amused smile turned into a genuinely pleased one.

She seemed worried, just in case as if there had been an incident, as if something had happened before. Loki merely nodded, electing not to press the matter.

"Very lovely," he offered, stepping forward and circling to examine the ice sculpture. "You are, truly, gifted." There was a great deal of detail in it - as simple as the theory behind it was, precision of that nature was not easy to accomplish, sometimes difficult even with experience. It was easy to harness power to create a large blast or to form something hulking in a rush of defense, but something as intricate as this was impressive for one without any training.

He looked over his shoulder at Elsa, curious. "Who is she, then?"
