Ernie felt a little prickle of jealousy when Hannah first mentioned the date but he thought he hid it well. As they made their way to Hogsmeade, she set the story for them. It was probably a good thing that Wayne and Justin were between him and Hannah or he'd have been tempted to rub her back, squeeze her hand, or do something to comfort her when she mentioned being taken out of school in sixth year.
He didn't like the idea of this Matthew dancing with Hannah or leaning against her trying to teach her bowling. He tried hard not to like that he'd had his foot broken for his troubles. It wasn't a very nice thing to wish someone ill. "Cast? He had to perform?" Ernie couldn't see how that would help or even how he'd manage to be on the stage with a broken foot. "Why didn't he take Skele-gro? Or whatever it is the Muggles use to knit broken bones?" Sure it was nasty tasty but it was effective.
