"The most fun lesson?" Wayne asked her to tell him a story, which she thought was a bit odd but also kind of sweet. Sure, they were walking to a pub and not tucking each other into bed, but she supposed she could give it a go.
"Um. Well, this has nothing to do with this year, but I've never told either of you," she said, indicating Wayne and Ernie, "about this bowling disaster I mentioned earlier. She glanced at both boys, and then at Justin, smiling shyly. She'd not bothered to tell her friends about her disastrous first date as, truly, there wasn't much to tell, nor was there really ever a good time to talk about it. She didn't think any of them cared, but beggars didn't get to be choosers.
"So, I was obviously not in the best place when I was staying with my grandparents during sixth year." She didn't think she needed to elaborate- her friends knew she hadn't taken her mother dying very well. Who would? "I was sort of pissy to be home in general, since I'd have rather just stayed at Hogwarts, but...well. That's not the point of the story." She trailed off a little as they reached the entrance to the Three Broomsticks.
"Anyway," she continued once they'd all settled around a table, "my Grandmother, being the darling and meddling woman that she in, decided I needed to make 'normal' friends. She signed me up for this book club, and then a dance class. Like, formal dancing. Since those two things are clearly what I enjoy." Hannah rolled her eyes, but really didn't think poorly of her grandmother. "I know Ernie and Wayne know that stuff, but I figured a little bit of context is always good," she said to Justin. Hannah didn't normally talk quite so much, at least, she didn't think she did...
"Anyway, there was this bloke in both classes. Matthew. He was rather sweet, I guess. I won't bore you with the girly stuff. We talked a bit during the book club, and were partners quite a bit in the dance class." She could tell the boys were starting to get bored, or at least, more visibly bored. "To make a long story short, we ended up getting dinner one night and then he took me bowling. He tried to be all manly and teach me the proper way to bowl, if there is such a thing. I got a little nervous, and ended up dropping the ball on his foot. He broke three bones, and had to be in a cast for two months."
