The thing about skipping pennies is that...well, it's less of a science, more of an art. Magic made it a lot easier to accomplish, as pennies didn't skip well across water unaided by a spell of some sort. And if you didn't keep it up and practice, then you might as well give the clarinet to a kid who will use it. Right?
This was far more fascinating than schoolwork right now. Justin probably thought otherwise - he'd been a buzzkill and insisted on doing schoolwork on a beautiful afternoon. Wayne questioned Justin's priorities sometimes, but Justin always managed to shut him up, one way or another.
Wayne was trying to get the penny to spin on the surface of the water like it would on a tabletop, but gravity had other ideas. Maybe levitation combined with a locomotor spell would do the trick...
It held for a second before plunking into the fountain, and Wayne Summoned it back into his palm, giving it another go.
It'd been ages since he'd seen Hannah and Ernie. They just kept...missing each other somehow. It didn't help that classes and work and...well, other students...were taking a lot of Wayne's time and focus, but he still missed them. They'd made quite the group, years ago, before...stuff.
