RP: Bonfire Bewilderment Date & Time: 21 October 1998 || Sometime between sundown and curfew Post Type: RP Open To: Private Character(s): Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson Location: Hogwarts, the lake Summary: Respecting the dead; confusing the living.
Old magic, old blood, old traditions. Not many people at Hogwarts still kept to ancient ways anymore, but he and his family had done so for generations and he would always follow those paths. He hadn't wanted to ask if the staff at Hogwarts would provide some way for the few old-line adherents to have a proper ceremony, considering the number of dead that had been there only a few months before, but he hadn't needed to. Sinistra had taken him aside after class that week and quietly let him know there would be opportunity for those who wished.
Draco took a deep breath, steadied himself, and tried to step forward to throw a handful of yew leaves onto the large fire burning merrily near the shore of the lake. He wanted to. He truly wanted to toss the leaves onto the fire in remembrance of fallen friends and departed family, but he simply could not bring himself to approach the flames. Each time he tried to move his legs, he heard the crackling of the Fiendfyre and heard Vince screaming again. Finally, he shook his head and stepped back, wrapping his cloak tight around him. "You go ahead, Parks. I can't."
