Justin shifted in his sleep, unaware of anything happening around him. He wasn’t really tossing in bed yet but it would come as the memories would resurface. They always did. It didn’t happen all that often anymore, but once in a while it even happened during the day. That day had been particularly long and hard for Justin. Three double classes in the same day was really a lot more tiring than he had imagined, not having studied for the whole year.
He breathed sharply and cleared his throat in his sleep, which was getting a bit lighter by the hour. Half conscious of his surrounding, he blinked and realized it was still night time so he turned to his side, but as he tried to fall back asleep he caught something strange. He frowned as he caught sight of Wayne’s puffy hair. The bloke was sleeping against the wall!
Justin bit his lower lip and chewed on it for a moment. He shifted on the bed and placed his head on his crossed arms, overlooking Wayne. He bit his lower lip, fighting the urge to just reach out and touch his hair. He had always wondered how it would feel running through his fingers..
As he relaxed a little, Justin could perfectly remember the day they had started hanging together. It had taken them a while to be on friendly terms but after Justin was Petrified, things had shifted. Ever since third year, it seemed like both of them were getting closer until Justin had come to start thinking of Wayne as his honorary brother. As he didn’t have any biological sibling, Wayne had been just that for him. Until he started realizing he liked blokes and just had to start finding Wayne attractive.
His lower lip trembled and he closed his eyes, rolling over so he’d be on his back. Why was Wayne asleep beside his bed? Wasn’t he mad at him? Or maybe he wasn’t mad at Justin himself but maybe he was just angry because Justin had kissed back? Perhaps that Wayne felt that his mate should have pushed him away instead of taking advantage of the fact that he was drunk and dodged the kiss?
It was on these thoughts that Justin fell back asleep, but not before he rolled on his side again. Fighting the urge to wake Wayne up and tell him he should get back to bed. Selfishly, Justin reached out and touched his mate’s hair carefully, hoping it wouldn’t wake him up. He quite liked having him close like that, he felt.. safer. Just like he had felt back home when Wayne had visited.
He rolled back and closed his eyes again, willing the thoughts and sorrow away. He truly missed Wayne..
