RP: I believe this is yours? Date & Time: Wednesday 5th May, 1998 Post Type: RP Status: Closed: Complete Character(s): Luna Lovegood, Dean Thomas Location: The Great Hall, Hogwarts Summary: Luna has something to return to Dean.
Luna sat at one of the long tables in the Great Hall, looking out of the broken windows at the softly falling rain. Everyone else was saying that they couldn't wait for the windows to be replaced, but Luna quite liked it. It was nice to have the fresh air blowing in, it almost felt like you were sitting outside.
Luna had decided to stay at Hogwarts until she heard news of her Dad. Not that she had anywhere else to go. Their house was destroyed after all. Luna hadn't been able to bring herself to go look at the house. She didn't want to think of the family home she had shared with her Dad - and years ago, her Mum - being no more than a pile of rubble. Once her Dad got back they would go together, she thought.
Staying at Hogwarts also had the added bonus of keeping her occupied. Luna was so busy helping with the clean up that she had less time to worry where her Dad was. Less time to wonder why, if all the other prisoners released from Azkaban had reached home, her Dad hadn't.
So much had happened recently, Luna kept wondering what would happen next. Firstly, she had gone from the peace and security of Shell Cottage to the noise and fury of the battle. Then there had been victory, and a brief period of celebration. Then back to reality. Securing the castle from Dementors and Acromantula. Worrying that the giants would come back. Realising just how much damage had been done. Trying to come to terms with all the death and destruction.
It wasn't fair.
But then, Luna had learnt that little in life was fair. All you could do was get on with things. In time the hurt would recede a little, you would learn how to go on.
Luna smiled as she saw a familiar face draw nearer.
"Dean! It's good to see you," she said. "I have something of yours." Luna reached into her pocket and took out Dean's D.A Galleon. It had been so nice of him to share it, he had been a good friend to her. But it was time to give it back now. Luna ran her fingers over the surface of the coin one last time before holding it out to Dean.
