Summary: Percy needs a kick up the backside the advice of a good friend.
After rather obsessively looking round Between the Lines and the flat upstairs for far too long, Percy thanked the landlord and left. The poor man was looking a little harassed. At first he had seemed very pleased to have someone interested in the shop, and had shown Percy around, all smiles. But after Percy's hundredth question, he had started to look a little exasperated and Percy decided it was time to go. He had seen all there was to see. Now he just had to make a decision.
At first Percy had only intended to make enquiries about the shop. But after looking over the details all weekend he had made an appointment to view it. He had given extensive thought to whether or not this was a good idea, and he still wasn't sure. He had been saving up for a long time, in the hopes of one day buying his own house. Was it really a good idea to put all his money into a business that might not even work out? After all, what did he know about running a shop? Percy couldn't help but think that he was trying to turn a silly fantasy into reality.
Percy checked his watch and hurried down to The Three Broomsticks, swearing under his breath as he bent his head against the rain. He was supposed to have met Oliver fifteen minutes ago. Percy hated being late, he thought of it as the height of bad manners. But his head was full of pros and cons, of finances and job security, and he had forgotten the time. Finally arriving, Percy took off his coat, glad to be out of the rain. He went over and bought himself and Oliver a pint before going over to his table, an apologetic smile on his face.
"Hello, Oliver," Percy said, sitting down and handing his friend one of the pints he had just bought. "I'm sorry I'm late, I rushed straight from work to view Between the Lines and I lost track of time."
