Recovery Date & Time: June 3, 1998 Post Type: RP Open To: Private Character(s): Katie Bell, Oliver Wood Location: Katie's family home, Pear Tree Ct, York, England Summary: Oliver pays Katie a visit. Her surgery had been finished by midday yesterday and the muggle healers - doctors - had advised her that everything had gone as planned. Katie was so groggy, nauseous and foggy from the pills they'd given her, she hardly remembered a day had passed. She didn't feel pain but she wasn't exactly allowed to get up and test out her movement either. They'd given her a strange chair with wheels on it and demanded her mum and dad confine her to it for the next week and a strange plastic brace to wear for six months. Neither option seemed at all appealing to Katie.
Katie read over her paperwork again but, even after working at St. Mungo's, she couldn't understand a word. Spinal stenosis, de-compressive laminectomy and lumbar spinal fusion. It all made no sense. She asked her mum to borrow some of Aunt Clarissa's medical books but apparently a Cardiologist - a heart doctor - did not have books on what Katie wanted to learn about. So, instead, she read over her doctor's notes.
Monday, she would report back to the doctor to verify that everything was well. They said she might be allowed to walk with just the brace then. She'd been given medicines to prevent infection but they smelled and looked awful. Katie had made her own potions instead and was taking those. 'Antibiotics' as they were called, were awful. Even Aunt Clarissa couldn't convince her to take them.
She sighed, looking over to her newest training book. She had another chapter or two to catch up on before returning next Thursday. Katie didn't want to fall behind. The idea of potion making, however, had grown less and less appealing since she'd re-injured her back. She'd spent more time with one of the healers-in-training during lunch and the more she talked about her work, the more Katie thought about it. She did get sufficient owls to be a healer.
Katie was distracted when her mum knocked on her door. "Come in," she said, not looking up from her notes. Her mum cleared her throat, earning Katie's attention. When she looked up, she realised Oliver was with her. "Ollie," she said in a slightly-slurred but jovial tone.
