Summary: Harry owes her a better date than a picnic at her childhood home, but for now, that's the best he can offer.
+ + +
The term picnic was generous. In reality, it was merely a few sandwiches and a fruit salad, spread over a small blanket in front of the lake. He'd been a bundle of nerves all day, certain even that the scrawl on the note he'd slipped beneath her door this morning, bore the clear traces of his anxiety. It was a simple lunch, really- he was completely hopeless when it came to Ginny, and planning anything larger than this would have likely ended in disaster. While it was at her home, it wasn't in Hogsmeade. At least here, it could be about the two of them, secluded, and perhaps exactly what they needed in order to start fresh.
Harry sat, tucking his thighs against his chest, watching the way that the midday sun played on the water. Nervous, his mind cycling through all of the downfalls he'd gone through with Cho, suddenly Harry wondered if this was too little of a gesture. Was it offensive? Did she expect something more impressive?
His fingers tangled in the grass, tugging blades loose from the dirt, idly twirling them around the tips until the flesh tinged purple. They were shaking slightly, and he wondered what he'd even say to her once she joined him.
