“Of course, I’ve been watching,” Meghan objected with a loud laugh. “But I’ve only been able to watch for the past week. Before then, we weren’t told anything unless it came from the people themselves! And I was at that Choosing Ceremony. I saw the drama first hand. McLaggen’s a fool, though. At least when it comes to his property, so to speak. He makes a living off being everybody’s darling, so seeing him lose it like that could seriously affect his good will with the public. Besides, it’s not like Blaise picking Brown would have any effect. If anything, McLaggen should be grateful that Blaise sacrificed his shot at picking an actual romantic connection on ensuring Brown’s stay on the island, which really is only to McLaggen’s advantage. He should be thanking Blaise, not being an arse to him.”
Unfortunately, Meghan had just taken a sip of her whiskey when Augustus asked if she was jealous. She nearly spit it out, but once she had managed to swallow and only dribble a little down her chin, she shook her head. “Jealous? Of Cho and Fin? Hardly,” she chuckled. “Fin’s an old friend. Our families have known each other since, well, forever, and he’s got such a large family that we just kind of blended and I’ve got more in common with him than I do with Kirley who’s actually my brother.” It really was as simple as that. Meghan didn’t tend to do complicated off the Pitch, unless it was a drink or cocktail, but only if someone else was making it.
“I think that…” she started slowly, looking at the leftover men and considering each one of them. “I think that Stephen’s spooked by the potential of anybody already publicly known, so yes, he’s got something in common with Angelica, but… I’m not completely certain. Blaise needs to figure out if he’s there for the game, for his work, or for meeting witches whether it be true love or one-nighter’s, and his friendship with Millicent comes before any of that, so I don’t think he’s made his mind up yet. Cinead? I don’t know. I simply don’t know. He’s good looking, which speaks in his favour and he’s a fellow islander like yours truly, so I hope he’ll stay and represent, but I don’t see anyone really fitting for him.”
